A yeast overgrowth (or candidiasis) is in reference to a bacterial imbalance down in the gut (or lower intestine). The most common yeast is called Candida Albicans and actually exists in the intestinal tract of every human being. Children are naturally born with a leaky gut which exists up until about six months of age. The above list is not exhaustive, and not all symptoms need to be present to have a candida issue.
If you suspect that your child has an issue with candida, the next step is to contact us right away. In addition to cutting certain foods from your diet, you’ll also want to add foods that kill candida. If you have many of the aforementioned symptoms, along with toenail fungus, you may want to try the candida diet by cutting out all refined carbohydrates, sugar, alcohol, vinegar, peanuts, cheese, dried fruit, and bread. Candida overgrowth (candida albicans) can lead to candida yeast infection and Leaky gut syndrome which is medically referred to as intestinal permeability. Some of us have a Candida overgrowth that has reached its advanced stages, while others have only just started to notice the symptoms. The point when the die-off symptoms kick in is sadly the time when many people prematurely abandon the process of regulating their yeast overgrowth, so it’s important to be prepared, be patient, be committed, and understand what your body is going through. If you are having severe Die-Off symptoms, slow down your treatment and reduce your dosage of probiotics and antifungals.
Increase water intake to flush out the toxins faster: If you want to feel better, all those byproducts that are released by the Candida yeast—fungus—need to leave your body. Sufferers want to know if Leaky Gut and Candida are somehow related and which one causes the other. You see, Candida refers to the overgrowth of a specific species of yeast within the digestive tract which if left untreated can and will continue to create intestinal inflammation and dysbiosis that leads to Leaky Gut Syndrome.
In either case, it’s always related to the imbalance of gut flora within the digestive tract. The problem however occurs when the natural balance of yeast and bacteria within the gut is disrupted which is typically the result of a loss of beneficial bacteria. Because if you’re dealing with any of these issues above then you’re likely not going to get any relief until you begin to fix the underlying cause of the problem instead of treating the symptom.

This is because you have to fix the underlying cause which is really the overgrowth of Candida in the gut that is leaking through the intestinal barrier and feeding the infection from the inside.
I have gotten the best long term results with Candida infections using specific dietary modifications to help starve off the Candida.
Because Leaky Gut and Candida are so commonly found together and tend to feed off each other, I have included a separate guide specifically for Candida and other pathogenic organisms in my Leaky Cure Program. However, if even a handful of symptoms are present in your kids, it is worth taking a closer look. Candida albicans will only continue to grow out of control if not specifically targeted for a length of time. Coincidentally, when the balance in the bacteria is restored, the health symptoms typically subside and go away. Some possible symptoms of yeast overgrowth include: chronic fatigue, weight gain, low sex drive, sinusitis, carb and sugar cravings, inflammation, arthritis, skin disorders, toenail fungus, yeast infections, urinary tract infections, menstrual cycle disturbances, digestive issues, gas, bloating, cramping, headaches, allergies, muscle pain, depression, memory problems, irritability, and loss of focus. Leaky gut is a major gastrointestinal disorder that occurs when openings develop in the gut wall.
It makes perfect sense that those who have suffered longest from their Candida will also take the longest to be regulated. The liver is your main pathway for eliminating toxins, and the Die-Off symptoms mean that it is being overwhelmed with the toxic by-products produced by the dying yeast organisms.
With the onset of Leaky Gut Syndrome and corresponding imbalance of gut flora, your digestive tract can become prime breeding ground for Candida and other invasive organisms. In a healthy gut, it lives under control and balance with the beneficial bacteria within your digestive tract.
And when there is no beneficial bacteria left to police and balance the Candida, then a dysbiosis develops and the Candida is given the opportunity to overgrow and take over which is when the problems begin to occur.
But much bigger problems arises when you develop Leaky Gut and Candida is able to pass through the intestinal barrier into your blood stream and become systemic. But that’s not the end of the fight because you still have to heal your Leaky Gut, close up your intestinal barrier, and rebalance your gut flora. Health challenges arise when the bacterial balance is thrown off and the candida growth is not kept in check. Note that candida does not always show up in the urine or stool sample tests, so the blood test is considered most accurate.

These tiny holes can be created when candida overgrowth moves to a more serious stage of candida yeast infection and the candida yeast grows roots or hypha (plural hyphae) which is a long, branching filamentous cell of a fungus.
However, when something happens to kill off these friendly bacteria, such as the prescription of antibiotics or a diet that over-feeds the yeast, the candida cells begin to multiply out of control.
The longer that you have had a Candida overgrowth, the more entrenched this fast-growing yeast is within your gut. The Candida yeast cells actually release 79 different toxins when they die, including ethanol (also called ethyl alcohol, pure alcohol, grain alcohol, or drinking alcohol) and acetaldehyde (which is produced by oxidation of ethylene and is popularly believed to be a cause of hangovers from alcohol consumption). Supplementing good quality probiotics to replenish them in your gut will help to reverse your candida overgrowth. Otherwise the Candida will just overgrow and leak through the intestinal barrier again and continue to be a systemic issue.
This fungal growth is a more advanced stage of development in the candida albicans yeast infection. Candida can also spread to the vaginal area, the prostate, the heart, lungs, liver, and cause numerous (and possibly serious) symptoms and illnesses. Little did I know that those meds lay the groundwork for my leaky gut and candida issues today. It can impair your brain function and even kill brain cells, so you can see how acetaldehyde is linked to Candida symptoms like brain fog and fatigue. Magnesium—a vital mineral many of us are deficient in and don’t even know it!—helps boost your immune system (remember 80% of your immune system is in your gut!), which helps balance stress and reverses constipation symptoms naturally. These by-products also cause allergic reactions and inflammation that lead to an array of undesirable symptoms. Candida Die-Off symptoms will vary from person to person, as each will have different degrees of infestation.
