Author: admin, 26.03.2014Sugar is added to so many foods—even those that are supposed to be savory such as tomato sauce, salad dressings, crackers and hot dogs, among many others—that even the savory foods you crave are probably loaded with it too. But there was another factor that many nutritional experts now believe played an important role in the skyrocketing rate of heart attacks—the increased consumption of low-fat foods.
People began eating more low-fat food in part because of the work of a Russian researcher named David Kritchevsky. And yet the public consumed these low-fat foods without question, deeming them to be a healthy choice—even if they were loaded with sugar and high-fructose corn syrup. Consuming sugar causes your body to produce opioids, natural feel-good chemicals that act similar to addictive drugs. Scientists have shown that withdrawal from sugar causes some of the same symptoms as withdrawing from addictive drugs. In other words, like the rodents in the study, when you consume sugars and carbs, you’re essentially self-medicating yourself, using food as an antidepressant.
A 2013 study showed just how easy it is to develop Candida overgrowth after taking antibiotics.
In the mice not given antibiotics, less than half of the mice had detectable Candida albicans levels at day seven and almost none of the animals had detectable levels at day 21.
Without plentiful supplies of good bacteria, Candida multiples and also changes from a yeast into an invasive fungus. One of the most important symptoms of Candida overgrowth is frequent cravings for sweets and carbs.
As Candida causes more and more dopamine cells to die, your body becomes deficient in dopamine.
There are a number of tests that will help your doctor find out if you have Candida overgrowth. Another option is the Urine Organix Dysbiosis Test, which detects a waste product of Candida yeast overgrowth known as D-arabinitol. To eliminate Candida overgrowth, it’s important to go on an anti-Candida diet for at least three months. After three months, you can start adding back in certain foods such as minimal amounts of brown rice and low-glycemic fruits.
There are also certain nutrients and botanicals that are highly effective at killing Candida. Certain microorganisms, such as Candida, produce lipase, a fat-breakdown enzyme that helps the Candida better colonize the skin and mucosal surfaces. Like calcium undecylenate, resveratrol stops Candida albicans‘ transformation from a yeast into an invasive fungus. While you are on your anti-Candida diet and using nutrients designed to kill the Candida, you may suffer a die-off reaction, otherwise known as a Herxheimer reaction.
You can also try attending one of the support groups for people who have food addictions, including Overeaters Anonymous and Food Addicts Anonymous. Food addiction has even garnered the attention of America’s favorite television doctor—Dr.
Although you may feel like your food addiction has control of you, using the strategies mentioned in this article will help you regain control of your diet and become vibrantly healthy once again. One of the experts on Candida albicans, Paul A Goldberg, made an important observation about the relationship between candidiasis and cancer growth. Candidiasis frequently invades the body after surgery, mostly because large doses of antibiotics are used in order to prevent post-operative infection.
Next week we will look at the changes in foods and lifestyles that enable us to free ourselves from an overgrowth of Candida forever, as well as at how important it is to do this not only if we are to become free of addictions and food cravings permanently, but also to protect ourselves from degenerative diseases and early aging.
Information on this site has not been evaluated by the US Food and Drug Administration and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Some researchers and scientists are now discovering that a similar thing happens to people with food addictions. Eventually, a person can actually become addicted to a food that they are allergic or intolerant to. Some articles I read also suggest that Candida could also lead to an increased risk for developing a food allergy or intolerance due to the overgrowth and release of toxins from the Candida and the effect the Candida can have on the immune system. So it also appears that if there is excessive Candida, it too can lead to food allergies, addictions, and more.
In 1954, he published research on the effects of feeding cholesterol to rabbits.2 When Kritchevsky and his team added cholesterol to vegetarian rabbit food, it resulted in the formation of artery-blocking plaques, which contribute to heart disease.
And the food manufacturers quickly caught on, producing more and more low-fat and non-fat foods. In recent years, strong evidence has suggested that foods high in sugar and fat have the potential to alter brain reward circuitry in a manner similar to that seen with addictive drugs like alcohol and heroin. And any time you try to wean yourself off those foods, your mood plummets, causing you to crave more of the very foods you shouldn’t be eating in the first place. One theory involves an organism known as Candida albicans, which resides naturally in most people’s intestines.
By contrast, all of the mice given antibiotics had detectable Candida albicans colonization at day seven. Most conventional doctors believe the systemic spread of Candida only occurs in patients who have weak immune systems such as people who have AIDS.
But when Candida become deprived of these goodies, for instance when you first switch over to a low-carb, low-sugar way of eating, the yeasty beasties which have been exerting major levels of control over your behavior and thoughts often raise their ugly heads to make you feel even worse—temporarily. This means avoiding all forms of antibiotics—except in life and death situations—drugs, hormones and steroids as well as any foods to which you might be allergic. They speculate that these addictions can be caused , at least in some cases, by an underlying food intolerance or addiction. When a person has a food allergy or intolerance, the body senses an intense reaction to a particular food in the brain. So even though they shouldn’t eat a specific food, they have very intense cravings for it due to the reactions and release of chemicals in the body. Again, as I mentioned in another article about Candida, most all of us already have this bacteria in our intestines.
However, since fat tends to provide flavor to foods, food manufacturers had to look for a flavor alternative, which caused many of them to swap the fat for sugar.
The study authors then inoculated the mice with Candida albicans and tested the animals’ gut flora seven days and 21 days after antibiotic treatment. However, many complementary and integrative doctors have seen evidence in their clinical practice that Candida can spread systemically even in otherwise healthy people. At the top of the list of what I’ve learned is this: The single most important cause of food addictions, cravings, hopelessness and self-recrimination is not lack of willpower—it is an overgrowth of Candida albicans in your body.
He says, “I had the opportunity to observe many cancer patients at the MD Anderson Tumor Institute…Many, perhaps most, had candidiasis. Savvy doctors who are aware of the ubiquitous nature of candidiasis (and there are very few around as yet who are) report that the problem exists in numerous patients who are apparently suffering from other illnesses.
Real clearing of any overgrowth can only be accomplished by restoring the health to the biological terrain of the whole body, so that it no longer lends itself to Candida’s continued growth and reproduction. People unable to think clearly, or who suffered from aches and pains, arthritis, and from allergies to chemicals in the environment as well as food sensitivities, find, once the overgrowth is cleared, they can lead a normal life.
It is hard to focus on anything else, and my mind is constantly thinking of snacks, food, and more. This is due to a release of many different chemicals as the body tries to rid itself of the offending foods.
The researchers inoculated a second group of mice with Candida albicans, but did not give this group of mice antibiotics. Instead of longing for good quality food, you find yourself reaching for junk stuff and sugars. Eventually the body gets to the point where it opts for nicotine over nicotinic acid—further increasing addiction and depleting your system of this essential vitamin. The candidiasis was not the cause of their cancer, rather it was part of their lowered resistance that had likely contributed to the cancer itself.
Just how much the candidiasis is a result of these conditions, and how much the perpetrator, no one is yet sure.
Because Candida needs sugar to grow, it causes its host to crave more and more of these types of foods. Autopsies on AIDS victims—whose bodies become riddled with candida, seriously compromising their immune system—show that it can and does easily invade the whole body.
The good news is that it can pass relatively quickly, leaving you feeling brighter, clearer and freer of addictions and food cravings. As a result of this finding, a group of savvy physicians have begun to take a long, hard second look at the Candida overgrowth situation in an attempt to learn more about how to treat this condition. Fatigue, depression, addictions, obesity, hormonal disturbances and mental disorders can all develop when the second brain gets out of whack.
