Prior to Southern - He was a three-year letter winner and a starter for the past two seasons. A top 100 player in the Houston area, Dago was a first-team All-District pick and was his team MVP leading them to two district championships. He holds the school record for career interceptions (13) and also ran track, lettering twice. BRANDON BOWDEN LB 5-11 210 FR.-R KANSAS CITY, MO. UNIVERSITY PREP 53 2012 - Bowden redshirted in 2012. Prior to Southern: Four-year letterwinner in football at University Prepatory in Kansas City where he played running back and linebacker for Coach Paul helping lead University Prep to four district championships. Was a two-time all-conference selection at linebacker as a junior and senior. Recorded the most interceptions by a middle linebacker in one season with 16. Also played baseball and basketball in high school where he earned all-conference in basketball and all-district in baseball. Personal: Son of Robin Bowden. Industrial engineering major at Southern. JULIAN YOUNG OL 6-5 250 SR. KANSAS CITY, MO. NEBRASKA-OMAHA 56 57 2012- Playing in eight games, including five starts at left guard, Young made the transition from defensive line to the offensive line in fall camp helping the Lions set a school record for rushing yards with 3,043 yards. 2011- Young appeared in all 10 games as a reserve defensive lineman for MSSU, making 15 tackles on the year, while accumulating 3.5 tackles for a loss (14 yards), 2.5 sacks, 2 quarterback hurries and 1 pass break up. Had season-high 5 tackles twice, in wins over Lincoln and Southwest Baptist. 2010 (At Nebraska-Omaha) - Played in 10 games for the Mavericks...recorded four tackles (two solo, two assisted)...had a career-high two tackles against Missouri Southern on Sept. 25. Raytown South High School - Played for coach David Allie at Raytown South High School...all-conference and second team all-state pick as a senior...also lettered in basketball and track. Personal - Born April 30, 1992 in Kansas City, Mo....son of Glennie and Arthur Whittaker...has three brothers and two sisters... has not yet declared a major. ANTHONY WESTFIELD LB 5-11 215 SR. NEOSHO, MO. NEOSHO HS 2012 - Playing in five games at linebacker for the Lions as a junior, Westfield made the transition to defense after playing his first two years on offense finishing the year with three tackles, all solo, including making a pair of tackles in the Lions’ homecoming win over South Dakota School of Mines. 2011- A bulldozer near the goaline, the sophomore fullback ran for nine yards on seven carries and five touchdowns, including two apiece vs Emporia State and Fort Hays State. 2010 - The Neosho native ran for 33 yards on three carries as a fullback in 2010. Westfield also recorded four special teams tackles in 2010. In High School - a 2009 graduate from Neosho HS, Westfield helped the Wildcats to both 2008 district and a regional championships...he was a 3 year starter for Coach Shawn Flanningan at linebacker/wide receiver as well as a three year starter at rightfield/pitcher in baseball for Coach Eddie Crupper... Westfield earned first team All-Conference accolades as a linebacker during both junior and senior campaigns...he also earned first team All-District as a linebacker and punter and second team All-Conference as a punter...Westfield was selected as 1230AM The Fan first team linebacker...he was aslo both a first team All-Conference and second team All-District rightfielder.
