UNIV. OF RHODE ISLAND32 2012- Playing in all 11 games for the Lions at running back as a junior, Hurd rushed for 275 yards on 45 attempts, an average of 6.1 yards and three touchdowns. The top returning all-purpose yards leader to the Lions in 2013, Hurd finished the year with 568 all-purpose yards, including 239 kickoff return yards, 31 punt return yards and 23 receiving yards. Had a career-high 80 yards on six rush attempts, includng a 16-yard touchdown in the Lions’ homecoming win over South Dakota School of Mines. Rushed for 55 yards on seven carries in a win at Lincoln. Returned opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown at Lindenwood, finishing the game with 126 yards. Prior to Southern - A first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association pick as a true freshman, Hurd was URI’s leading rusher last year as a sophomore. As a freshman, he led the CAA in kickoff return yardage (26.2), and was named the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week after rushing for 20 yards on seven carries and returning a kick for a 75-yard touchdown against Delaware. As a sophomore last season, Hurd played in eight games, rushing for 433 yards on 111 carries. He averaged 3.9 yards per carry and had three touchdowns. High School - A 2009 graduate of Cheshire Academy, he served as the team captain during his senior season. He rushed for 1,120 yards that year, and also hauled in 420 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, earning All-New England honors.
