THE GRIFFON OFFENSE The Griffons will try to duplicate last season’s all-time numbers, which produced 41.6 points per game, along with 6,670 total yards and 75 touchdowns. Two All-Americans return to help the Griffons this season at the auarterback and tight end spots. QUARTERBACK Travis Partridge (6-4, 230, Sr.) returns under center for his senior season. Partridge had an outstanding 2012 season, where he not only threw for 30 touchdowns, but also rushed for a team-record 18 scores. He completed 65 percent of his throws and was named First Team All-MIAA for his junior campaign. Partridge went 218-for-335 on his passes which tallied 2,706 yards. “If he improves on last year, he can be one of the best in the country,” coach Jerry Partridge said. The back-up quarterback for the Griffons will be Weston McPhee (6-2, 200, Jr.) who transferred from Graceland University. RUNNING BACK With the departure of running back Michael Hill, the all-time leader in rushing yards for the Griffons, Missouri Western will look to have a three-headed monster rushing attack to fill the void. Running backs Dalton Krysa (6-0, 210, Sr.), Dominic Thomas (5-8, 185, Jr.) and Raphael Spencer (5-9, 190, So.) all have a chance to crack the starting lineup and help the Griffons run game. “Krysa is dependable…Rapahel, really dynamic and electric; big play guy...Dom is boastful, fast, strong too,” Partridge said. All three have had serious playing time with the Griffons over the past two seasons. Krysa returns after a knee injury sidelined him for most of 2012. Thomas averaged 6.2 yards per carry last year and Spencer scored five touchdowns in 13 games his freshman season. WIDE RECEIVER A young but talented group, the Griffons will replace two starters at wide receiver. Tyron Crockom (5-11, 167, Sr.) will return as a dangerous wide-out with explosive speed. Behind Crockom will be Derek Libby (5-9, 170, Sr.), another talented asset for the Griffons. “Crockom and Libby are two of the best slot receivers in the country,” Partridge said. Besides those two, the Griffons will look at new guys and inexperience to help stretch the field. Stephon Weaver (6-2, 190, So.) will start opposite of Crockom. Weaver played in six games last year after redshirting in 2011. Dee Tolliver (5-11, 185, So.) will also have a chance to start, and he played in six games last year as well. Other Griffons that will see valuable time include Josh Walker (6-1, 160, So.), Jon Green (6-3, 188, Jr.) and Andrew Molloy (5-10, 200, Sr.). “All of them have a lot of potential,” Partridge added. TIGHT ENDS The Griffons return both tight ends that played in 2012. Reggie Jordan (6-3, 240, Sr.) returns for his senior season. Jordan recorded 23 receptions for 11 touchdowns last year. He was named an All-American and Honorable Mention All-MIAA. Jordan is a great blocker who has made several acrobatic catches to help move the offense for the Griffons. “Reggie Jordan is, if he’s not the best in the country he’s in the small group,” Partridge said. Returning as his back-up is Alek Ferbet (6-2, 250, So.). Ferbet caught a touchdown in his very first game for the Griffons last season. OFFENSIVE LINE One of the best offensive lines all graduated last year, but the Griffons believe they have found the right guys to replace the five that have departed. Jeremy Jacobson (6-3, 315, Sr.) played guard last season and started three games to help the Griffons after injuries forced them to move around some players. Jacobson will start at center. “We’re excited to see (Jeremy) have a good senior year,” Partridge said about his new center. New tackles Leonard Wester (6-6, 305, So.) and Jac’que Polite (6-5, 300, Jr.), a transfer from Gray Military Academy, are strong and physical. The guards will be Travis Anderson (6- 3, 305, Fr.) and Christian Orduno (6-3, 295, Jr.), another transfer, coming from Mt. San Antonio College. Josh Ferge (6-3, 305, Sr.) is a versatile reserve that adds depth to the line. 2013 MWSU SEASON PREVIEW
