During the 2012-13 academic year, Griffon student-athletes participated in over 1,000 hours of community service in the local area. In addition, Griffon Football players were involved in many endeavors including Athlete Reading Week at Skaith Elementary School, Camp Quality, The Mayors Thanksgiving Dinner, United Way Profit in Education and Second Harvest Food Bank’s “No Hunger Summer.” The MWSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee takes part in several service projects throughout the year including “Griffs Giving Gifts” and “Night Out on the Griffs.” MISSOURI WESTERN STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE HOSTED ANNUAL NIGHT OUT ON THE GRIFFS Friday, December 7, 2012 The Missouri Western State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted their annual “Night Out on the Griffs” on Friday, December 7 in the Griffon Indoor Sports Complex. The event provided St. Joseph area children in grades K-four a chance to participate in fun activities with Missouri Western student-athletes. It also allow parents to have a night without the kids, free of charge! Over 100 area youth enjoyed the night filled with activities, popcorn, and fun. It’s was a high-energy atmosphere with plenty to keep them busy.
