Meet the Lions ... Seniors 10 •  Tee Helsel • INF 5-10 • 180 • R/R • Senior • Branson, Mo./Branson HS 2013 - Helsel started in all 55 games he played in last season, 54 of them at third base ... He finished the season with a .294 batting average and was second on the team with five home runs ... he added 34 RBIs and slugged .423 ... a near-perfect 8-9 from the basepaths, Helsel had one of his most memorable games of the season in the opener of the MIAA Tournament where he went 2-4 with a grand slam in helping the Lions to a 9-0 win over Pittsburg State. 2012 - As a sophomore, Helsel started in 46 of the 48 games he played in ... He finished the season with a .289 batting average and 32 RBIs ... he led the team in doubles with 14 and finished fifth on the team with 33 runs scored ... he was also 6-7 on the basepaths 2011 - Helsel made his presence known early on as the freshman started in 48 of the 49 games he played in ... he finished fifth on the team with a .309 batting average ... He had 33 runs scored, 50 hits and 23 RBIs with five dobules and four home runs ... Helsel had a game to remember when he had the third-most at bats in a game (7) against Pittsburg State ... In that game he scored three times and drove in five with a double and a home run ... He also had a 4-4 game with a pair of RBIs and a run scored against Nebraska-Omaha later in the season. In High School- Four-year starter at shortstop and third base at Branson HS. Received a multitude of accolades including all-state honors in football and basketball and all-area and all-conference in baseball. Also exceled in national competition, hitting .338 with 40 RBI. He also smacked 16 doubles and stole 11 bases at the National Junior Championships leading his team to a 4th place finish. Personal- Born on September 7, 1991 in Branson, Mo. Tee is the son of John and Trisha Helsel. His uncle Heath Helsel played football for the Lions. Tee is an education major at MSSU. He finished the season with a team-high four saves and struck out 52 batters, while walking just ten ... He threw 68.1 innings and finished the season with a 4-6 record. 2012: An honorable mention All-MIAA selection as a sophomore, Reese saw action as both a starter and reliever ... He led the team with a 2.64 ERA and finished with a 6-3 record in 13 appearances ... Reese started nine games with one complete game shutout in 61.1 innings pitched ... he struck out 40 and walked just 13. 2011: Reece saw action out of the bullepen and as a starter as a true freshman in 2011 ... he appeared in 13 games, starting four and threw 22.1 innings, striking out 13 ... his best outing came at Truman where he struck out five in five and a third innings of work. In High School: David was a three-year starter for the Falcons of Olathe South HS. Earned Rookie of the Year honors in his first season as a starter. Also earned honorable mention all-conference recognition. Personal: David is the son of David Sr. and Peggy Reese. He was born in Kansas City, Mo. on July 1, 1992. David is a biology major at MSSU.
