Meet the Eagles 53 7 - Steven Isom Height: 6-4 Weight: 220 Year: Junior (RS) Hometown: Alcoa, Tenn. High School: Alcoa Position: WR 2013: Spent much of his sophomore season injured; he made appearances in six games with three starts but still managed to catch 13 passes for 207 yards to be CN’s third leading receiver. His best game came against Wayne State (9/5), when he snared three passes for a career high 84 yards and a touchdown. He also scored a TD against Wingate (11/16) in the regular season finale. Averaged 15.9 yards per catch. 2012: Carson-Newman’s leading receiver in his freshman year. Grabbed 21 balls for 316 yards and a touchdown. Averaged 26.3 yards a game and 15.0 yards a catch. Had a long reception of 47 yards. Gashed Lenoir-Rhyne twice, first setting a career high with four catches for 64 yards on Sept. 15. Jacob was second in the SAC with his five picks last year. With his two interceptions against Newberry (11/9), Jacob became the first Eagle with a multi-pick game since Oliver Davis had a pair against Tusculum in 2010. He finished the regular season with a career best seven-tackle day against Wingate (11/16). Jacob needed two more picks to break into the top 10 for most interceptions in a single season at C-N. He closed the year with 45 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. Jacob led the team with 11 pass break ups. Returned an interception for a touchdown against Wayne State (9/5), also had a career high three pass breakups against the Warriors. 2012 (Lon Morris College): Tallied 56 tackles, 12 pass breakup and eight interceptions for the Bearcats in his only season at the Jacksonville, Texas-based school. His uncle is former University of Tennessee and NFL quarterback Bobby Scott. His cousin Benson Scott also played football for the Vols. 31 - Jamal Jones Height: 5-10 Weight: 190 Year: Sophomore Hometown: Chattanooga, Tenn. High School: Lookout Valley Position: RB 2013: Carried the ball five times for 28 yards in his freshman season. His long rush came against Brevard (9/21) - a 14-yarder that gave him his most yards in a game. Carried the ball three times for eight yards against Newberry (11/9). High School: Lookout Valley High School product from the Chattanooga, Tenn. area. Ran a 4.38 40-yard dash. An all-state, all-district and all-region selection, Jones was named the area’s back of the year for his senior season as Lookout Valley made the first round of the playoffs. Personal: A member of the Lookout Valley Honor Roll and National Honor Society, Jones has perfect attendance his senior year and won an award for an outstanding French Scholar.
