15 A Commitment to Excellence Construction on a new “operations” building for Carson-Newman Football began in the fall of 2006. In July 2008, the Eagles moved into one of college football’s premier facilities, complete with new athletic training facilities, locker rooms, football offices and a world-class weight room. Carson-Newman now owns the facilities to match its longstanding on-field success. On Sept. 4, 2008, when the Eagles played host to North Alabama, the building was renamed the Ken Sparks Athletic Complex, honoring the Eagles’ longtime head coach and the winningest head football coach in Division II.
