The Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Office has pro-duced the 2014-15 men’s basketball guide to aid you in your coverage of the Eagles. If you have questions, comments or concerns, contact a representative of the staff. We look forward to working with you through the 2014-15 season. Entrance All media members are asked to enter Holt Fieldhouse through the front entrance in the main hall. Press area The main press area at Holt Fieldhouse is located on the east side of the arena and provides an unobstructed, vantage point for media personnel. Restrooms are located in the MSAC Main Hall and adjacent to the playing surface by the Carson-Newman Athletics Hall of Fame. The press area is a professional workroom, as such, members of the media are expected to behave accord-ingly – there should be no cheering. Press Box Services Press kits are provided two hours prior to tipoff. Press kits include program, flip card, updated statistics for each team, conference statistics and game notes. Brief stats will be distributed at halftime and at each media timeout. A pregame meal will be served beginning 90 minutes before tipoff. Soft drinks and snacks will be available through the game. Stadium Press Box Tobacco Policy In accordance with the policies and pro-cedures of Carson-Newman and the laws of the state of Tennessee, all areas of Holt Fieldhouse are a smoke-free environment. This does include press row. This rule includes all forms of tobacco products. The C-N Athletic Communications Office appreci-ates the media’s cooperation in adherence to this policy. Telephone and Internet Services Limited telephone service is available in the working press area. Media outlets are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to secure their own phone lines for use during Carson-Newman home games. Permission to broadcast from Holt Fieldhouse may be obtained through the Director of Athletic Communications. The official visiting radio network will be given priority use of the visiting phone line. Photographers Only accredited photographers on assign-ment from recognized media outlets will be issued sideline credentials for games or allowed at specific practices. In accordance with NCAA rules, no freelance photographers will be admitted to the sidelines or press box photo deck. CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS OLD ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE SIDELINE AT ANY TIME. Interviews Every effort will be made by the Carson- Newman Athletic Communications Office to fulfill player interview requests during the week. There will be several opportunities during the week for members of the media to interview football players and coaches. Players will be available to the media in the 15 minutes before and after weekday prac-tices. Players will return phone calls to out of town media following Tuesday practices. Player phone numbers will not be released. Media outlets will not be granted interviews prior to, or during a game. Players will not be asked to miss classes, study halls, prac-tices, meals or medical treatments in order to participate in an interview. To schedule interviews, contact the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Office at 865-471- 3513. Post Game Policy Carson-Newman’s locker room is closed. Media in the press box will be asked to sub-mit a list of player requests to the athletic communications staff with 10 minutes left in the second half. Requested players will be brought back to the playing surface for one-on-one interviews following the cooling off period. Basketball Practice Practice is usually open to members of the media. In the event that practice is closed, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communica-tions Office will provide advanced notice. Television and still photographers are welcome to shoot practice with advanced approval from the athletic communications office. Gameday Parking Media parking at Holt Fieldhouse is avail-able on a limited basis. Requests for park-ing should be made when submitting press and or photo credentials. Media credentials Credentials and working space for media members are issued at the sole and exclusive direction of the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Office. All members of the media must request credentials in writing through Director of Athletic Communication Adam Cavalier at acavalier@cn.edu or via fax at 865-471- 3514, based on the following priorities and guidelines: 1. Originating radio and television personnel involved in an orginating broadcast. 2. Daily/Weekly newspapers and media outlets regularly Carson-Newman and the current opponent. Wire services, regional and national publicttions are also afforded this priority. 3. Non-originating radio and television personnel producing reports on the game. Only local radio and TV stations with a full-time sports director conducting a regular sports show will receive consideration for credentials. 4. Officially recognized Carson-Newman or opponent student publications or elec tronic media outlets. • Passes are non-transferable and are subject to immediate revocation if transferred. Carson-Newman reserves the right to deny media credentials to any individual. • Only websites that are affiliated with a national or regional news media organization (CNN/SI, ESPN, USAToday, etc.), an opponent institution or South Atlantic Conference will be considered for credentials. • All credential and media parking re quests MUST be made via fax 865-471- 3514 or email (acavalier@cn.edu), on official letterhead, at least five days in advance of the game. Due to mail service, media passes will not be mailed in some instances. If this is the case, passes may be picked up at the will call window of the C-N ticket booth at Holt Fieldhouse beginning one and a half hours prior to the scheduled tipoff. Individuals picking up credentials will be required to furnish positive identification. The Live Stream All Carson-Newman home athletic events will be streamed live with video and audio through cneagles.com and the Stretch Inter-net Portal. There is no cost to view or listen to these events. All road football, men’s and women’s basketball games will be streamed with audio, but not video.
