So, in honor of this, a Taunton books editor helped compile a list of great books (and DVDs) for getting started in woodworking.
This book will show you how to build quality furniture projects that can be completed by any woodworker with a modest (but decent) kit of tools in less than two days of shop time, and using raw materials that are available at any home center.
More on this topic: Just found this archive Knots discussion on beginner woodworking books and classes.
In summation, I would like to thank the staff at Popular Woodworking and F&W Media, who have put up with my frequent niggling over details as well as for their considerable support in selecting Toolemera Books for this special collection. They are tasteful and useful, making this book a good choice for the experienced woodworker in a hurry! Woodworking Basics by Peter Korn (Center for Furniture Craftsmanship) is a great resource for a new woodworker's shop.

This collection is, quite simply, the quickest and most affordable and to build your library of must-have hand-tool woodworking books.
Following the distribution of said sets, said sets will be no more and we will return you to your regularly scheduled book by book purchase.
Thanks also to every customer who has chosen to purchase a Toolemera title as that is a way of telling Popular Woodworking that the books are of significant worth to the woodworking community and I've done my job well.
The woodworking titles featured in our 50% Off Giving Handmade Holiday Sale are perfectly tailored to your gift-giving plans: beginner and experienced woodworkers alike will find an abundance of project ideas and thorough how-to instructions within these pages. Yes, I sat up late nights, covered in printers ink, page by page turning out each book on my Columbian Printing Press, hand bound each and every one, then packed and shipped the books by stagecoach. We're looking for people who share our passion, who want to learn and contribute to a growing, thriving woodworking community.

The last side-table project in his book (pictured) has the same pedigree as these two other FW projects: Tim Rousseau's small cherry cabinet and Stephen Hammer's small stand with coopered panels. If you’re a woodworker who finds joy and inspiration in learning and sharing tips, techniques and woodworking expertise, then join us!
