I've got the rose colored safety glasses on when it comes to building.  When I heard the top five New Year's Resolutions, I couldn't help but think, building is the answer to everything.
Building is green.  You can make building even greener by choosing locally grown wood species that renew faster, asking for plywood products that contain plant based glue and choosing plant based paints and stains. For the bottom bunk, you will need to build the Full Size Simple bed, but this time, build two headboards and no footboards.
Part bunk bed, part play house and if made and finished with the right materials this awesome piece of furniture could be both indoor and outdoor compatible (water seal and all that jazz). As with all of our plans, you are building at your own risk and you should have a firm understanding of building in general before you attempt many of our plans (some are easy as pie and perfect for beginners). Showcase: Built From These PlansI am so honored each and every time one of you fine friends builds from these very plans! Before beginning to build, always check in on my site to make sure you have the most up to date set of plans, I occasionally update and change the plans to make the building process easier or to allow for less expensive purchasing of materials!
For the Back Wall, cut the pieces for the Posts, Side Top, Side Rail, Side Bottom, and Side Short Studs. For the Front Wall, cut the pieces for the Posts, Side Top, Side Bottom, Rungs, and Side Long Studs.
For the Head Wall, cut the pieces for the End Rail, End Bed Rail, End Bottom, and End Stud. For the Foot Wall, cut the pieces for the End Rail, End Bed Rail, End Bottom, and End Stud. When the wall is attached to the Bed Frame, the cut-outs should line up just above a 2x4 for extra support. But with that, we were able to turn it into a bunk bed for my 2 year old by repeating the steps for the top bunk on the bottom one!  A little paint, and we were all set! I had followed the plans for the low lofted bed and went to the local big box store and got everything I needed. All in all, I had about $150 in this project including the materials for the top AND bottom bunk.

I just made it slightly higher than the original plans called for and put a bottom bunk on it.
This bed is super sturdy and comfortable.  We had over 600 pounds of people laying the the bottom bunk and the think didn't even think of moving! So it would seem that I am indeed publishing yet another set of free plans to build a super cool bunk bed today. Raised bed gardening – how to build a raised bed garden, Raised beds make growing any plant easier. Diy wall bed for $150 – your modern family, I wanted to share this diy wall bed with you. Building can get you fit, get you organized, and save you money.  But what sets building apart is that building is fun! This past week I have been building the Simple Bunk Beds for my kids and I've done a good part of it on my own. This will make for easier painting and will keep you from having to paint this wherever this piece will actually live (bedroom) since you will have to assemble it in the area it will be placed (at 45 or more inches wide this will not fit through a doorway after it's assembled). I give approximate dimensions for the height below, but the important aspect to focus on is the angle you will cut the top and bottom.
If you have been with us here at TDC for any period of time, you probably already know by now that this is my favorite type of build. With that, go forth, have fun, take lots of pictures and share them in a showcase or on social media with the hashtag #builtTDCtuff and we will share our faves! For these interior cuts, start at the inside corner of the cut-out and drill a hole slightly larger than the blade of the jigsaw. They share a bedroom and my wife and I were looking for a design to make a lofted bed for our 4 year old. I think that makes it certifiable that I have a complete and utter case of bunk bed syndrome and an ever lasting love for all of that built in functionality slash fort making potential that comes along with.
Feel Free to link to any of my plans so long as you provide an adequate link back to the appropriate post!

If you print out or save plans, be sure to check in on my site to be sure you have the most up to date set of plans, as I occasionally update things for ease of building or buying. You can also play around with installing puck or rope lighting… the possibilities are truly endless with this Bunk Bed! Please also consider giving each post and board slightly rounded edges as you sand, for added comfort for your kiddos. Attach the rungs at approximately 8" apart (this will depend on the age of your kiddo, the smaller and younger, the closer together these should be, you need to consider how easy it will be for them to climb down) and parallel to the ground. Plans from this page are not to be used for commercial purposes or republished without the express written consent of Rayan Turner, The Design Confidential I hope to provide accurate plans, however, I cannot guarantee each plan for accuracy. If you are new to building, read through the GETTING STARTED section and other articles found under the BUILD tab in the menu on my site, it has valuable information about how to get started, tools and techniques. This step should be done a total of 4 times – twice for the top bed and twice for the bottom bed. Not every plan that I post has been built and tested, so you are building at your own risk. If you are unfamiliar with the finishing process, visit my Finishing school for some tips and tricks for painting like a pro and for special finishing practices. I suggest cutting away the point you will create at the very top, when you cut the 75°angle, for added safety. This step should be done a total of 4 times – twice for the top bed (front and back) and twice for the bottom bed (front and back). Coat with a spray on Poly or Wipe on Poly to protect your finish and your piece and it will last for ages. If you are unsure about whether you are building safely, run a quick online search for the tool or technique you are using, or contact me via email or post to the forum before you move ahead.
