Burton is the world’s largest multi-tailor today, providing men top-quality customized suits and apparel at reasonable prices. In 1903, at 18, Montague Burton, its founder opened its cross-tailoring company in Chesterfield with an insightful philosophy that “Good clothes develop a man’s self respect.” From there, Burton expanded a tailoring empire that saw the company’s production engaging from suits to uniforms to clothe a quarter of the UK Armed Forces at the start of the First World War. By the time the company went public in 1929, it was running 400 shops, factories and mills. They were again into uniforms for the troops in World War II, honing further their expertise on designing and tailoring for men of all sizes.
