Everything You Need to Know About Bluehost

Bluehost has built a reputation for itself as one of the most reliable hosts out there. It is well-known due to its partnership with content management system WordPress, but Bluehost is a good fit for more than just WordPress users who want to take advantage of WordPress Hosting. Thanks to its easy to use control panel, even beginners can quickly make their dream site.

Depending on how you want to build your website, you can choose between WordPress or Weebly. WordPress is a super simple CMS and Weebly is a top-rated website-builder. Bluehost recently added a free drag and drop site builder, which makes it simple for new website owners to create a beautiful site without having to spend thousands of dollars on a web designer. Bluehost also offers many different tools for spam filtering, managing email, analyzing site data and statistics, and managing multiple domains. Get your bluehost coupon code here and sign up now.

While WordPress recommends Bluehost, it offers a lot more than just WordPress hosting. If you want to host your e-commerce site, Bluehost is a superb option. You can opt for add-ons to help improve your email marketing tools and install Magento, ShopSite, and TransFirst to help run your online store.

Cloudflare integration is another feature that Bluehost offers. Cloudflare routes your web traffic through a global network that has been specifically designed to deliver content as fast as possible. Visitors to your domain will experience fast load times and performance. Cloudflare also blocks any threats and reduces the number of abusive bots and crawlers that visit your site.

Did you know that speed can have a major effect on the user experience as well as your Google rankings? Even a seemingly minute, a 1-second delay in page load time can cause a dramatic 7% loss in conversions.

Another way Bluehost keeps your site safe and secure is by offering three antispam tools – Apache Spam Assassin, Spam Experts, and Spam Hammer. That means you can create filters for email accounts and users, make IP address blacklists, and even manage private keys.

Bluehost offers 24/7 support, so if anything does go wrong with your website you can get fast resolutions. The hosting provider also has a help center, guides, video tutorials, and more. You can reach the Bluehost support team through call, chat, or email.

Our Bluehost Review

If you are serious about creating a presence online, you will want to sign up for a top-notch web hosting service. Whether it’s an online store or a personal blog, a website isn’t complete without a web host to help it run optimally. Since its founding in 2003, Bluehost has continued to provide web hosting services that are innovative and of the highest quality, for beginners, experts, and everyone in between.

Bluehost was founded in 2003 by Matt Heaton and Danny Ashworth in Utah. The company was acquired by Endurance International Group (EIG) in 2010 and is now officially located in Burlington, MA.

Bluehost is arguably best-known for its WordPress association, low prices, and impressive services. There are reportedly over 2 million websites hosted by Bluehost. But what is it about the web hosting provider that makes it such a popular choice for website owners? Let’s find out.

Bluehost is the top-recommended hosting provider for WordPress blogs and has earned a solid reputation for providing numerous hosting plans that each include a long list of impressive features. Here are a few quick, notable facts about the popular web hosting service provider:

  • Plans cost as little as $2.95 per month (with the help of a discount or coupon code). Plans get more expensive as your needs grow.
  • Unmetered bandwidth is included with all accounts.
  • The Basic shared hosting plan comes with 100 email accounts. Larger plans offer unlimited email accounts.
  • Bluehost makes it easy to configure and control your sites with the impressive cPanel interface.

There are four main types of hosting plans available through Bluehost:

  • Shared hosting
  • VPS hosting
  • Dedicated hosting
  • WordPress hosting

Shared hosting is the most basic, inexpensive type of hosting available and is suitable for most beginners and small businesses. Dedicated hosting is the most expensive option Bluehost provides and is ideal for large commercial firms. VPS hosting falls somewhere in between, giving you a virtual operating system that allows the server to work as if it’s yours, even though you share an actual server with others. WordPress hosting is hosting optimized for WordPress customers.

With all Bluehost plans, your software updates automatically and the interface is simple and straightforward to use. Bluehost customers also benefit from impressive uptime and 24/7 customer support.

When it comes to web hosting essentials, Bluehost has you covered, regardless of your individual needs. They make it easy to find a plan that provides everything you need to run your website, with plenty of help along the way if you find yourself in need of assistance.

With so many options available and both a solid reputation and reliable customer support to back them up, Bluehost continues to stand out as a top web hosting provider for anyone with an online presence.

Bluehost Customer Service

Quality, reliable customer support is essential, despite hoping that you won’t ever need to use it. Bluehost is a company that understands the importance of customer service. They offer live chat, support tickets, telephone, and email options around the clock to ensure new and existing customers can get the help they need, whenever they need it.

User reviews are a bit mixed regarding the topic of responsiveness. Many reviewers have shared positive experiences with friendly and knowledgeable support staff, but some have complained about extended waiting periods when looking for assistance.

Fortunately, many questions can be answered with the help of the Knowledge Base on Bluehost’s website. This in-depth section provides answers to just about every issue you might come across, with solutions laid out so clearly that you often won’t need the help of a customer service representative.

If you ever find yourself in need of assistance, you can contact a member of one of the following Bluehost teams:

  • Sales: Can help with general inquiries, potential customers, and new customers.
  • Technical support: Ready to help whenever you have any support-related questions or concerns.
  • Account management: Handles inquiries associated with billing, account verifications, and the terms of service.

Bluehost Alternatives

When choosing a web host for a website or blog, it’s important to find a reliable hosting company. With so many web hosting companies competing for your attention, it can be difficult to determine which one is right for you.

Below you will find in-depth comparisons of Bluehost and three other popular, experienced hosting companies. Take a closer look at what sets each of the service providers apart to help you decide which one best meets your hosting requirements.

Bluehost vs GoDaddy

Bluehost and GoDaddy are both experienced web hosting service providers that are trusted by millions of people. Both providers have been around for nearly two decades, giving each company nearly the same amount of experience.

In 2014, GoDaddy became the world’s biggest ICANN-accredited registrar with over 59 billion domain names under its name. Because of its aggressive advertising, GoDaddy is well-known to the general population, whereas Bluehost is lesser-known to the public but a stand-out in the world of web hosting. But being better-known doesn’t necessarily mean that GoDaddy is the better web host. Let’s look at the important hosting features of the two hosting providers to see how they compare.

Bluehost doesn’t make claims about uptime or offer an uptime guarantee but with an uptime of nearly 99.9%, it’s certainly high enough to brag about. GoDaddy offers an uptime guarantee of about 99.9% but averages an uptime of 99.6%, which gives Bluehost a slight yet important edge.

Among customer reviews for both web hosts, GoDaddy’s include far more complaints about outages or downtime.

Bluehost and GoDaddy have similar minimum server response times or page load speeds, but Bluehost’s maximum server response time for any of their sites is notably lower than that of GoDaddy.

Bluehost and GoDaddy both have data centers with impressively powerful servers. Bluehost runs on AMD power centers and uses CPU segregation technology that helps protect your website against harmful spam attacks and viruses. GoDaddy’s servers run on Intel Core i7 processors.

Customer Support

Both Bluehost and GoDaddy offer customer support contact several options. You can use live chat, email, ticketing system, or phone support. There is also an in-depth Knowledge Base available on each website for additional support.

Unfortunately, GoDaddy customers often complain about having to wait a long time for a response when getting in touch with a member of the GoDaddy customer support team. Bluehost has consistently received high remarks for its reliable customer support team and their timely responses.

Hosting Plans

Both web hosts offer a free domain name with a hosting plan. Bluehost offers only Linux hosting, whereas GoDaddy offers plans for Linux and Windows hosting. The cheapest price for any hosting plan with Bluehost is $2.95 per month for the Basic shared hosting plan with a three-year subscription. The cheapest price for a GoDaddy hosting plan is $3.99 per month for the Economy plan with a two-year or three-year subscription.

Bluehost’s other hosting plans, particularly the premium plans, are more expensive than those offered by GoDaddy. But Bluehost also includes more features than GoDaddy, such as unlimited email accounts, higher storage, and unlimited MySQL databases.

GoDaddy allows you to sign up for a shorter-term subscription, such as a one-month or three-month plan. With Bluehost, you can only select a one-year, two-year, or three-year subscription.

Overall, Bluehost stands out as the better web host. While GoDaddy provides reliable service and a long list of useful features, it can’t match the tools and performance offered by Bluehost. Bluehost is officially recommended by WordPress as a preferred WordPress web host and is highly rated in real customer reviews.

Bluehost vs HostGator

Bluehost and HostGator are owned by the same parent company, so it isn’t too surprising that their features, prices, and overall user experiences are similar. Both are reliable web hosting providers with excellent features. Overall, they are decently matched.

All of HostGator’s plans come with unlimited storage, databases, and unmetered bandwidth. Bluehost’s Basic plan gives you 50GB of storage and 20 databases, but also offers unmetered bandwidth on all its plans. Bluehost offers a free domain for the first year, a perk that isn’t included in HostGator plans.

Both hosting providers use cPanel and have interfaces that are incredibly user-friendly. However, Bluehost’s interface is cleaner and more modern than HostGator’s.

HostGator barely beats Bluehost with its uptime of 99.99%, compared to Bluehost’s 99.98%. When you consider that 100% uptime isn’t really possible, both hosting providers offer supreme uptime.

WordPress is behind an estimated 30% of all websites, so it’s important to consider WordPress integration when looking at a web host. In this area, Bluehost is hard to beat. Not only is Bluehost officially recommended by WordPress, but they offer one-click set up and in-house WordPress support experts to make it easy for anyone to use.

Customer Support

Bluehost and HostGator both offer reliable customer support. In in-depth Knowledge Base is available on both sites, as well as several contact options. A customer support team member can be reached via live chat, phone, email, or ticket system. Both Bluehost and HostGator have support teams that are available 24/7.

Hosting Plans

HostGator’s web hosting plans start at $2.75 per month and are, for the most part, cheaper than Bluehost’s. But the hosting plans with Bluehost include more features that you will want to have access to. Plus, with prices starting at $2.95 per month, Bluehost is still incredibly budget-friendly. Given the number of features each plan includes, Bluehost stands out as the host offering the most value for your money.

You can’t go wrong with either web host. Bluehost and HostGator are known for providing reliable, high-quality web hosting services. But while HostGator has a slight edge in a few areas, Bluehost remains the go-to web host.

Bluehost vs SiteGround

Bluehost and SiteGround are two of the leading providers of web hosting, with each offering reliable, high-quality web hosting services. Each provider has its perks and either one would successfully meet your hosting needs, but there are a few notable differences between the two.

Bluehost is just barely the more established provider of the two, having been around since 2003. SiteGround got its start in 2004 but grew fast and has since maintained its place among the top hosting providers.

The easiest way to compare these two popular hosting providers is to look at the pros and cons of each.

Bluehost Pros and Cons

  • Affordable pricing: Plans start at $2.95 per month
  • Impressive uptime: 99.98%
  • Top recommended host provider by WordPress
  • Free domain included with all plans

  • Tempting add-ons can increase monthly price

SiteGround Pros and Cons

  • Impressive uptime: 99.98%
  • Recommended third by WordPress
  • Free automatic daily backups

  • No free domain
  • Limited disk space

Bluehost and SiteGround both use cPanel for their interfaces and both provide unmetered bandwidth. While a free domain name is certainly a major benefit of choosing Bluehost over SiteGround, both providers are great options for web hosting.

Bluehost Customer Reviews

“Bluehost has been my website host for years” - Stan Rhodes

Rating: 5/5

Bluehost has been my website host for many years now. I use a couple of their service – the shared hosting and dedicated hosting. I have had nothing short of a pleasant experience throughout my time with them and have no plans to cancel my subscriptions. I have used their live chat a few times when I have run into a problem and they were always able to quickly fix what I was struggling with. I appreciate how everything works together seamlessly so that I can stay organized between services. Bluehost is a great website host.

“Responsive even in a pandemic!” - Don Grimes

Rating: 5/5

With a global pandemic underway I expected customer service to be subpar. I figured there wouldn’t be as many people working which would mean I would have to wait forever just to talk to someone but Bluehost proved me wrong. Not only did they get in touch with me fast but Marissa was friendly, well mannered, and helpful. I didn’t have the best experience with a different host so after this most recent experience with Bluehost I think I’ll be sticking around for a while. Thank you Bluehost for helping me keep my site running smoothly.

“Easy to use cpanel” - Rachel Alvey

Rating: 5/5

I have been really impressed with cpanel. It makes it super easy to find whatever I’m looking for and helps me stay organized. I also had a good experience with their customer support. They answered my questions and helped walk me through some problems I had when I was getting started. I have been happy with my experience with bluehost so far.

“Good for my small website” - Sasha T.

Rating: 4.5/5

I am satisfied with my experience with Bluehost. I have a small website and it works great. I have not been blown away but again my website is small. I am not sure how this host would work on a large website. Support is helpful. Could be faster but they answered my questions. I will keep using Bluehost as it is a good service. Thanks.

“Beware of automatic renewal” - Kendra Korghan

Rating: 4/5

I signed up for a Bluehost plan that cost around $7 a month. I was fine with this but I was shocked and appalled when Bluehost renewed my plan after 12 months and charged me almost double what I signed up for. When I talked to customer support they said their plans are automatically renewed at the full price. I just barely remembered reading that which is my fault but when I said I wanted to cancel my plan because I can’t afford the full price they made me it really hard to cancel. If it was so easy to renew my plan and charge me more it shouldn’t be that hard to cancel my plan. But I guess that’s just a big company for you. Now I know to read the fine print. Thanks for emptying my wallet Bluehost.
