Rhythm Band includes a stand and wooden mallets with the steel drum.Just half the diameter of a conventional steel drum, the pan drum is properly tuned. It has deep, rich tones and because it is based on the 5-tone pentatonic scale, they're easy to play. Made from 16-gallon oil drums, Mini Pans deliver that great sound popular throughout the Caribbean and in many other areas of the world. Despite its size the G-Style Minipan Steel Drum produces sound just as beautiful as a full-size steel drum when played properly.

The mallets are crude wooden sticks with dirty, poor quality rubber placed on the ends, which falls off after the first use. I am very disappointed to have wasted a great deal of my schools money on something that can hardly be called an instrument. The pan itself hung on the frame by nothing but ordinary zip ties and has to be repositioned every minute or so. While the instrument does have the diatonic scale promised, the tone of the instrument is like hitting a sheet of tin, with the notes of the scale hardly perceptible behind the metallic noise hitting the drum creates. Furthermore, the materials used in building this instrument are very low quality, with the mallets easily falling apart and the drum itself literally attached to its stand with zip-ties.
