Day 3 – Sunrise Lakes junction (9,310) to Tuolumne Meadows (8,600) via Cathedral Pass (9,700).
The hike to Tuolumne begins with an easy walk across two meadows, still frosty in places, with Cathedral Peak lit in the distance. Past the meadows the trail climbs up through open forest over Cathedral Pass and back down to Cathedral Lake. While there are a few viewpoints between the trees, the mountain views remain hazy despite the blue skies. From here the trail descends, seemingly more steeply, towards Tuolumne Meadows through forest with a few interesting granite slabs and outcroppings. We pick up our first resupply package at the post office conveniently located between the take away grill and the camp store. We also found out that we could camp at the backpacker’s campground behind the Tuolumne Meadows campground.
Sodas Springs which bubbles up naturally fizzy water is an historical sight and one of the John Muir’s favorite spots. With fatigue setting in and too intent on food, we had passed the valley by on the way to Tuolumne Meadows, but even with the approaching thunderstorms it’s a stunning setting.
At the Tuolumne River an immigrant family originally from China skips rocks and takes photos with dark thunderheads looming in the background. On our return we stop at the camp store to pick up items for dinner and breakfast including a bottle of wine.
Just as we get back to camp the dark skies that have been threatening all afternoon open up with rain and  hail. Seeing the prices for processed foods at the Park store, I knew this was going to be an off grid meal. A Blog With A StoreOutside Supply is a full service mobile power company focusing on fleet power, RV solar and power inverters for mobile and off grid applications. One of our Experts will be in touch with you as soon as possible with the products that best suit your requirements.

To book a service, simply call our Service Department and we will contact the manufacturer on your behalf.

Additional appliance pick-ups are also available, provided that the appliance is disconnected and on a one-for-one basis (in relation to the original invoice). Winning Appliances guarantees a competitive market price and will match or better genuine prices.
On Easter Thursday, my husband and I woke to find that our refrigerator was no longer working. When I called Winnings at Crows Nest and told them of my predicament, the receptionists reply was “I am sure we can do something to help you.” I cannot tell you how good it was to hear those words. We recently bought a number of kitchen appliances from Winning Appliances and were very impressed by the level of assistance and service we received from Leigh Moya. Just wanted to pass on a big thank you to Vicki who assisted me in Redfern yesterday afternoon. I am writing to let you know how satisfied and relieved I was when I went to Winning Appliances as I had to purchase a new stove and was dreading doing so as my husband used to help in these circumstances but he passed away and I was determined to do it on my own.
I was looking around feeling very uncomfortable and a nice young man who I know now was Michael Yianni came up to me and asked if he could help me – from then on it was an amazing experience as he was so nice and helpful – and the stove was installed yesterday and I couldn’t be happier.
I would like to thank you so much for your continued assistance, thorough product knowledge, patience and friendly, professional service over the last month. I could not have brought this renovation together as easily if I’d had to go to a multitude of suppliers to get the quality of information and personalised service offered by Jeff. Join the Winning Kitchen Club to receive our latest news, special offers, kitchen inspiration and exclusive invitations to events. The climb up and over the pass is on a well graded track with steep sections terraced with stones. The same is true at Cathedral Lake, a pretty little lake surrounded by granite out-croppings. A pleasant hiking temperature, well graded trail, dry air, but otherwise it’s a rather dull walk in the woods. They inform us that they only distribute packages to through hikers on the hour between 10AM and 4PM. When we picked up our permits at Yosemite Village they told us that only hikers starting or ending their itinerary at Tuolumne Valley, not pass through hikers, could camp at this location.
It may be more crowded in July during peak Pacific Crest Trail season, but for the moment it’s quite pleasant. Despite mounting thunderheads darkening the sky east of the dome, there are climbers ascending its face.
Parson’s lodge just above the springs has an array of park information as well as being a thunderstorm refuge. We headed up to the top only to realize that there was still several thousand feet of climb required to summit Rainier. We pulled out our trusty induction stove and plugged it into our solar charged power inverter. Our quotation service is free of charge, you can always change your mind, and there’s no obligation to buy afterwards.
We provide a fully-integrated service package, so you can trust us to look after you from product selection right through to installation and beyond.

The prices for these products are set by the manufacturers for whom we are agents and unfortunately we cannot adjust them. I must say I have not had such wonderful service when I have had to have other transactions seen to. We wish to let you know that you gave us fantastic service, no pressure, no hard sell, just honest information on our purchase. Sue, who sold me the machine, was really wonderful in her pursuit of a happy resolution to my problems. For the purchase of the appliances we decided to go to Winning Appliances, where I met Victoria Hilton, we would like to commend her on her professionalism and we found her to be extremely helpful – nothing was too much trouble.
I am so delighted that I came to Winning Appliances as my first, and now only choice for my entire household purchases. According to the rangers at Tuolumne Meadows, however, this is not true and through hikers may also use the backpacker’s campground. Having been to Pike’s Peak, I was amazed at how much larger this mountain appeared, after all it was just a bit lower at its peak. We only stayed one night because we had a mountain to see, but this would have been a great spot for a quiet week or two.

I visited the showroom in Phillip Street for the first time, after a recommendation from a friend who had renovated several times.
I am now thinking of replacing the dishwasher which looks very shabby near the nice new stove! I had a number of visits to the Crows Nest store, and also several phone calls to Victoria, everytime Victoria was very helpful and efficient. Tuolumne Meadows, including the campground and other services is another mile down the road. Vicki streamlined the whole process and she really understood the type of decisions that have to be made when designing a kitchen. Similarly, the delivery man, Brendon, was most caring and professional – well spoken, polite, careful, and thorough. Other than Tuolumne, no camping is allowed between Cathedral Lake and four miles past Tuolumne Meadows.
I hope he goes well in his future employment, as he is also an outstanding employee, who I similarly believe deserves your commendation. I would highly recommend other people to seek out Victoria, knowing she would be able to provide outstanding service.
We would like to thank Victoria for all the assistance she gave us, as soon as I would say it was me on the phone she knew who I was and was up to speed on where we were with things, and was efficient in getting back to me with updated information if required.
We will be building a new home next year, and will be buying a Wolf dual fuel range and Sub Zero fridges as well.
