Tinnitus ear crystals, depression medication - Reviews

Tinnitus is the perception of sound within the human ear in the absence of corresponding external sound. Tinnitus is not a disease, but a symptom that can result from a wide range of underlying causes. Many causes are external environmental causes such as abnormally loud sounds entering into the ear canal, or foreign objects in the ear.
Another body stressor that contributes strongly to the high incidence of Tinnitus is exposure to loud noises. The balance system in the ear is called the vestibular system and it consists of the semicircular canals which have the nerve endings of the nerve of balance. Meniere's Disease (MD) is characterized by hearing loss, ringing in the ear, and episodes of severe dizziness often with nausea and vomiting. Labyrinthitis is the inflammation of the inner ear labyrinth which again leads to imbalance of body. Meniere’s disease is caused by bacterial or viral infection that causes accumulation of fluid exerting high pressure in the ear. The balance of human body is maintained by the inner ear that responds to gravity by sending signals to the brain. Vestibular neuronitis is a condition associated with the inflammation in the inner ear due to viral infections like cold and flu. Meniere’s disease is a rare disorder in the inner ear which is caused by the viral or bacterial infection leading to the accumulation of fluid and thus exerting pressure in the ear.
Concussion or injuries in head and neck region that may lead to disorientation of the fluid in the ear canals leading to imbalance or dizziness. BPPV or Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo is a condition affecting the inner ear leading to vertigo or intense dizziness. BPPV is caused when one or more minute particles called otoconia float in the fluid of the inner ear labyrinth. Meniere's Disease is a very disturbing illness, presenting patients with hearing loss, pressure in the ear, tinnitus, severe imbalance and vertigo. For instance, infections of the inner ear, including syphilis and Lyme's Disease, may produce episodes of vertigo and hearing loss quite indistinguishable from Meniere's; these symptoms usually occur in both ears. Ten to 15 percent of cases resembling Meniere's Disease may be the result of an immune disorder of the body, the system producing antibodies which attack the inner ear.
Initial evaluation is based on a very careful history given to the ear surgeon, as well as an examination of the ears under the operating microscope to rule out obvious infections or visible growths. Once testing is completed, the ear surgeon can evaluate the results, rule out extraneous conditions and confirm the diagnosis of Meniere's Disease.

The body responds as we said earlier, to external and internal stress with a cascade of events and body communication in the language of chemicals designed to alert us and motivate us to run to tale flight or run to safety or stand and fight.
Very high frequency noises and prolonged exposure to noise can cause trauma and damage to the ear and the onset of Tinnitus. Aspirin and other over the counter meds; as well as prescription meds all have been credited with ear damage and Tinnitus.
We also use a holistic approach which means we will work with the whole mind, body, spirit…not just your ears. Calcium crystals floating in the inner ear fluid stimulate the nerve of balance and stimulate dizziness.
Bacterial or viral infection sometimes in association with allergy leads to an accumulation of fluid in the middle ear space behind the ear drum (see ear diagram).
In these cases the fluid is drained by placing a ventilation tube (or pressure equalization tube, PE tube) through the ear drum with a brief surgical procedure. It is a series of movements performed in order to remove the calcium deposits or canalithsfrom the canal into the inner ear chamber from where they may be absorbed by the body. These canaliths cause problem when they enter any of the fluid filled channels in the ear which may occur on sudden movement of head like sudden standing up, turning the head, lifting up the head etc. Betahistine is used to prevent the attacks from occurring by improving the blood flow around the ear. The nicotine in tobacco smoke constricts blood vessels and decreases blood supply to the inner ear. This exercise is performed by asking the patient to lie in the bed for a minimum of 12 hours with their heads tilted toward the unaffected ear. These particles are composed of calcium carbonate crystals that break off from the vestibular lining of the labyrinth.
If these otoconia are freely floating within any of these affected canals, it is called canalithiasis and if these are attached to cupula of the ear, it is known as cupulothiasis. The hearing loss in Meniere's may lead to severe permanent hearing loss and deafness in the affected ear. Tinnitus is often described as a motor-like whirring noise present only in the ear with the hearing loss. The vertigo in Meniere's Disease is thought to result from an accumulation of excessive fluid in the inner ear. Tumors of the inner ear nerve (the eighth nerve), especially acoustic neuromas, can also produce similar symptoms. Cholesteatomas (cystic growths) and other infections of the middle ear can also produce symptoms similar to Meniere's.

Syphilis can involve the inner ear even twenty to thirty years after the original infection.
Smoking constricts and reduces blood flow to the tiny blood vessels which nourish the inner ear nerve endings.
Any cause of inflammation such as common cold and influenza cause transient vertigo if it involves the inner ear.
For those suffering from tinnitus or hearing loss, this can increase the chances of experiencing vertigo or making chances more severe. Since the inner ear is that part of body which is responsible for equilibrium and balance against gravity, any disturbance may lead to imbalance in the body causing dizziness or vertigo. The movement of these particles and disturbs the normal functioning of the vestibular nerve in the ear. Tinnitus alone, without associated hearing loss or vertigo, is rarely caused by Meniere's Disease. Newer MRIs can actually visualize the structures of the inner ear including the cochlea and semicircular canals. It may also include a change in diet and lifestyle to address the metabolic disorder underlying the Tinnitus. If pressure builds up in the middle ear because of Eustachian tube dysfunction or infected fluid that can also cause a 'sudden hearing loss'. The actual cause lies in interference with the normal ion-water homeostasis in the ear that leads to several inner ear diseases.
Vertigo is commonnly caused by acute labyrinthitis (a viral inflammation of the inner ear), benign positional vertigo (a condition due to abnormally floating crystals in the inner ear that stimulate the nerve endings of the inner ear), delayed symptom of head injury, or result of cervical spine problems. The only symptom in very early cases of Meniere's may be a sense of fullness or pressure in one ear.
Electrocholeography (ECOG) measures the excess fluid accumulation in the inner ear; in Meniere's, this test will also confirm increased pressure due to excess fluids in the inner ear. These can form as crystals in the body and cause the body’s immune system to respond with inflamation. When one nerve has a viral inflammation it begins to send signals to the brain out of sync with the other ear. Over time, salt restriction results in decreased fluid accumulation in the inner ear, reducing excess pressure on the nerve endings of balance and hearing.
