CDSSG06030 - Step-By-Step Guide, Step 1 - CDS Declaration Category and Data Set: Type of Declaration being made

Once you have selected the appropriate Type of Movement, please see section CDSSG06020, you can then identify the Declarations Categories available for the type of declaration being made.

The Navigation Guide’s step 1 will inform you of the Appendix to be used when selecting the Declaration Category for that Type of Movement. Please see sections CDSSG04120 and CDSSG06020.

The Appendix for that Type of Movement will list the Declaration Categories that you can choose from. To find the index list of Declaration Categories that you can choose from for each Type of Movement, select the first link in the corresponding Appendix.

You will then need to identify from that index list which Declaration Categories fit the Type of Declaration you are making:

*Import Simplified Declarations (Regular Use): Certain procedure codes may stipulate that an H1 must be used instead. This should be checked within the Completion Notes in Appendix 1 for the specific Procedure Code being used. For example, Procedure Code 0751 stipulates:

*Please note: Where a C* simplified declaration is made, the H1 data set (as specified in Appendix 21A: Declaration Category Data Sets H1) must be used and the supplementary declaration is waived.
