Lucia Wilde

Biography

Lucia Wilde was appointed as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan in 2019. Prior to this, she was the HR Deputy Director in the Department for Health and Social Care setting up the new Office for Health Disparities under Professor Sir Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England and Wales. She qualified as an HR professional in HM Revenue and Customs.

Earlier in her career Lucia was the Head of the Department for International Development’s programme in Iraq and worked on counter narcotics in the British Embassy in Afghanistan. She also served in Moscow, Brussels and Accra.

In her spare time Lucia enjoys cycling, hiking and learning. She has two undergraduate degrees, three master’s degrees and two postgraduate diplomas.

The Ambassador represents Her Majesty The Queen and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the Embassy and its Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations and consular services.
