Check which locations need an arrived export declaration from 1 January 2022
Find out which locations need your export declaration to be submitted as arrived. If they need to be checked your driver may have to take them somewhere else.
You must submit your export declaration as arrived before your goods start their journey if they’re leaving from certain locations.
If the goods are selected for inspection, most ports will be able to check the goods on site. However, some ports may require them to attend an inland border facility.

You will need to check with your carrier if they use Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS) or Inventory Linking.
If your carrier uses:
- GVMS you will need to submit an arrived export declaration
- Inventory Linking you will need to submit a pre-lodged standard exports declaration

Locations where your goods will be checked
After submitting your declaration, you may receive a message letting you know your goods have been selected for a physical check (route 2) or require document checks (route 1).
The driver will need to attend either the port’s customs checking facility or an inland border facility.
You’ll need to make your goods and any accompanying documentation available for inspection. The driver must make sure that any goods that require it, have their documentation stamped by Border Force so that they will have permission to progress.
