Guidance

HM Land Registry: digital applications

We’re changing the way we receive and process AP1 applications to update existing titles using the portal.

Applies to England and Wales

We receive most applications to change the register as electronic copies. Customers use our Document Registration Service to upload a pre-completed AP1 along with any supporting documents.

We want to move away from this practise and encourage you to lodge your applications digitally. Digital applications are quicker to process and allow us to check for errors before you submit them.

To create and submit your digital AP1 application, you can use:

  • the Digital Registration Service on the portal
  • a case management system connected to our Business Gateway platform

See Submit a digital AP1 form to HM Land Registry for more information.

From November 2022 we will no longer accept scanned or PDF copies of AP1s for changes to existing titles using the portal.
