Patricia F Gallan QPM
Biography
Patricia Gallan is a Non-Executive Director for Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. A former police officer, she was Assistant Commissioner Specialist Crime and Operations of the of the Metropolitan Police Service, retiring in 2018. She previously served as Deputy Assistant Commissioner (Specialist Operations – Security and Protection) and also Deputy Assistant Commissioner (Professionalism) from 2012 to 2015. She was Assistant Chief Constable Operations Support of Merseyside Police from February 2006 to 2012 and also served as temporary Deputy Chief Constable of the force between October 2009 to February 2010. She was Assistant Chief Constable at the National Crime Squad from January 2005 to February 2006. A qualified Barrister, Detective and Hostage Negotiator she had a varied and interesting policing career.
Pat championed inclusion, mentoring and development throughout her police career. She led the establishment of the women’s network in Merseyside Police, was a Syndicate Director at the Police Staff College, mentoring & training future Chief Officers. A major sponsor of the Girls ‘Network, she was instrumental in the Met Police, reaching out to young schoolgirls from diverse backgrounds to encourage excellence.
Now retired from policing, Pat is a Trustee of the Charity Red Thread and Chair of Governors at an East London Infant and Junior School. In her spare time, she enjoys walking her Labrador and cycling and looks forward in the future to skiing and travel again.
