The Senior Courts Costs Office can assess:
- how much you should pay a solicitor in costs and expenses
- what you can get back in costs from the other side in a court case
- the amount that lawyers can claim in costs in publicly-funded cases
The guide includes detailed information on:
- cost management orders
- the way bills are laid out
- default costs certificates
- detailed assessment hearings
- interest on costs
- court of protection and legal aid cases
The costs assessments are carried out by costs judges (masters) or authorised court officers.
