DHSC boards and committees vacancies
Administration of Radioactive Substances Advisory Committee – 6 members
The Department of Health and Social Care is looking to appoint 6 members to the Administration of Radioactive Substances Advisory Committee (ARSAC).
ARSAC advises the relevant licensing authorities under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2018 (‘the Regulations’) on licence applications from practitioners and employers that will enable them to administer specific radioactive substances in diagnosis, therapy or research.
ARSAC assesses research studies involving the administration of radioactive substances as required by regulation 11(1)(d) of the Regulations.
As specialists in the administration of radioactive substances or related areas, members:
- impartially assess applications for employer and practitioner licences under the Regulations
- contribute to discussions of the Committee working alongside recognised experts who assess other aspects of the detailed technical data on ionising radiation.
- are expected to contribute to the Committee’s discussions and to the consideration of detailed statements and conclusions from the Committee.
- may be asked to contribute to other discussions (such as in working groups) or to draft text within their specialism if the need arises
There are vacancies for:
- 4 nuclear medicine specialists (radiologist or physician)
- 1 medical physicist
- 1 radiopharmacist
There is no remuneration for this post, however, you may claim travel and subsistence expenses. The time commitment is approximately 2 hours per week with 2 meetings per year.
