The strategic salt protocol sets out arrangements for the allocation of salt from the emergency reserve, if and when required, including the price of salt.

The letter from Andrew Jones, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport, is addressed to local highways authorities. It explains the action being taken to prepare for winter 2016 to 2017 and the work highway authorities need to do to prepare for winter.
