The Vagina Monologues
Directed by Cherice Henderson and Amber Malott
November 9, 15, 17- 8pm
November 11- 2pm
As part of “Eve-Fest”,
a joint fundraiser and celebration of award-winning playwright Eve Ensler,
Theatre on Consignment presents The Vagina Monologues, Eve Ensler's
wildly popular and Obie-award winning collection of monologues about the
most private of places. Hilarious, poignant and frequently in-your-face,
it is an exploration of what we say and, more importantly, what we don't
say about the women in our lives and around the world.
Out
In The Open
by Jonathan Harvey
Directed by Dr. Leroy Clark
May 22, 23, 24- 8pm
May 29, 30, 31- 8pm
Set in the back garden of a house in east London, Tony, who is HIV positive,
has brought home a younger boy, Iggy from the pub. Tony continues to live
with Kevin , their flatmate, after the death of Frankie, Tony's lover.
They are "haunted" by Frankie's mother, the zany, spliff smoking
Mary, who uses Tony as a way of keeping in contact with her dead son.
The acclaimed author of Beautiful Thing is back with another
frank and hilarious play exploring the ins and outs of modern relationships.
Fat Pig
by Neil LaBute
Directed by Leslie Seaton
February 12, 13, 14- 8pm
February 19, 20, 21- 8pm
Tom
surprises himself when he falls for the charming, but plus-sized Helen.
Tom is taken with Helen, but finds himself lying to his friends about
her out of embarrassment. Tom's office buddy Carter, the ultimate jerk,
razzes Tom about dating a fat chick to the point of a near melt-down,
while Tom's ex-girlfriend/co-worker Jeannie interprets his new love interest
as a direct attack on her own desirability. As Tom faces the cruel and
malicious way his friends treat him because of Helen, he is met with a
choice. The question, ultimately, is who can overcome their superficial
insecurities, and whose weaknesses will prevail.
Dating
Games by Garth Wingfield
Directed by Leslie Seaton and Cherice Henderson
May 14, 15, 16- 8pm
May 21, 22, 23- 8pm
Garth Wingfield's
Dating Games examines the lighter side of the often scary world
of dating through five short comedies. Each vignette focuses on a different
variety of daters and their eccentricities when it comes to the process
of finding romance. Mary has a series of miserable first dates, each guy
worse than the last. Henry meets an old crush at his reunion. Kevin tries
everything he can think of to get the shy guy. And Holly goes on a date
with a woman – for the first time.
