It is my pleasure to invite you to attend the first NYCFL Tournament of the

2012 - 2013

school year.

 

The contest will be held on

Saturday, September 29, 2012

at

Regis High School

on

East 85th Street - between Madison and Park Avenues

 

ELIGIBILITY:

            This tournament is only open to NYCFL member schools

 

 

CATEGORIES:

Vars. Extemp

JV Extemp (frosh/soph only)

Original Oratory

Vars. Prose Reading

JV Prose Reading (frosh/soph only)

Duo Interpretation of Literature (Binders are not optional.  They are required!!!!!)

Dramatic Performance

 

REGISTRATION:

9:00 - 9:30 on Saturday morning at Regis.

 

DEADLINE:

The Pre-Registration Deadline is

Wednesday, September 26th

at 9:00PM

Entries not received by this date CANNOT be accepted!!!

 

PRE-REGISTRATION:

Registration must be done on TABROOM.COM under Regis Early October

Pre-Registration Deadline is Wednesday, September 26th at 9PM.

 

 

JUDGING REQUIREMENTS:

ONE qualified judge for every FIVE entries or fraction thereof.

 

A judge is qualified to judge at this tournament under NYCFL rules

If he or she is a college freshman or older;

AND

is the coach of a program, OR has judged before, OR participated in forensics as a student.

 

Judges who are not qualified under these rules must attend one contest as an observer judge, and be registered with the Executive Committee as such. Observer judges do not count toward the quota of judges you must provide. Observer judges must arrive at the tournament with a copy of the League’s judging handbook and should have read it before hand.

FEES:

$4.00 per speaker from a member school.

(NOTE: Each Duo team counts as TWO speakers for fee calculations).

 

SWEEPSTAKES:

Best three Extemp and OO, plus best three in Prose and/or Duo and/or DP (for this contest ONLY DP will be combined with Prose

and DUO.

 

AWARDS:

Trophies and mugs to 8 finalists in each event.  Honorable Mention awards will be presented to top finishing “first year” competitors in JV Extemp and JV Prose Only.  First year students in Drama and Duo will not be noted.

 

LUNCH:

Regis will provide lunch for all judges. Students should bring lunch with them, or be prepared to go out to one of the local delis.

 

DROPS/ADDS:

           

1.    DROPS MAY BE MADE IN TABROOM UNTIL FRIDAY NIGHT AT 9PM

 

2.    Speakers may NOT be added after Wednesday

 

3.    Judge Drops are NOT allowed after Wednesday

Remember:

1.    Drops after the registration deadline of 9 PM on WEDNESDAY do not alter your judging quota.

2.    Registration fees for drops on the morning of the contest must still be paid.

3.    There are NO ADDS after the pre-registration deadline has passed.
