Wheeling is a city in Ohio and Marshall counties in the U.S. state of West Virginia. Located almost entirely in Ohio County, of which it is the county seat, it lies along the Ohio River in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Wheeling was originally a settlement in the British colony of Virginia, and later the second largest city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Wheeling was where creation of West Virginia was planned, and it was the first capital of the new state. Due to its location along major transportation routes, including the Ohio River, National Road, and the B&O Railroad, Wheeling became a manufacturing center in the late nineteenth century. After experiencing the closing of factories and substantial population loss following World War II, Wheeling’s major industries now include healthcare, education, law and legal services, entertainment and tourism, and energy.

Wheeling is the principal city of the Wheeling, WV-OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 147,950, and the city itself had a population of 28,486.

From the acceptance of the new state of West Virginia into the union on June 20, 1863, until the Restored Government of Virginia’s move to Alexandria in August of the same year, Wheeling was the state capital of both West Virginia and Virginia.

West Windsor is a township in Mercer County, New Jersey, in the United States. The township is part of the New York metropolitan area as defined by the United States Census Bureau. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township’s population was 27,165, reflecting an increase of 5,258 (+24.0%) from the 21,907 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 5,886 (+36.7%) from the 16,021 counted in the 1990 Census.

West Windsor and adjacent East Windsor Township were established by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 9, 1797, and incorporated on February 21, 1798, as two of the state’s initial group of 104 townships, by partitioning provincial Windsor Township.

The Borough of Princeton (now part of Princeton) was formed from a portion of the township on February 11, 1813. The township is closely associated with that now much more widely known town and several localities within West Windsor use Princeton in their name, the most notable of those being Princeton Junction. The USPS ‘Princeton’ post office (08540) facility is located within West Windsor, and covers parts of the township designated by Princeton, NJ mailing addresses.

A portion of Princeton University, covering 400 acres (160 ha) south of Lake Carnegie, is located in West Windsor. The University agreed in 2009 to make an annual payment in lieu of taxes of $50,000 that would be indexed to inflation to cover 81 acres (33 ha) of land in the township that the university had purchased in 2002.

West Windsor is frequently ranked among the highest-income municipalities in New Jersey. In 2008, Forbes listed West Windsor as the 15th most affluent neighborhood in the U.S. Using 2012–2016 data from the U.S. Census Bureau, NJ.com listed the township as the 9th highest-income in the state in its January 2018 article “The 19 wealthiest towns in New Jersey, ranked.” Based on data from the American Community Survey for 2013–2017, West Windsor residents had a median household income of $175,684, ranked 4th in the state among municipalities with more than 10,000 residents, more than double the statewide median of $76,475.

West Whittier-Los Nietos is a census-designated place (CDP) in Los Angeles County, California, near the San Gabriel River and the San Gabriel River (I-605) Freeway. The population was 25,540 at the 2010 census, up from 25,129 at the 2000 census. The census area consists of separate unincorporated communities of Los Nietos (Spanish for “the grandchildren”) and West Whittier.

West Warwick is a town in Kent County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 29,191 at the 2010 census.

West Warwick was incorporated in 1913, making it the youngest town in the state. Prior to 1913, the town, situated on the western bank of the Pawtuxet River, was the population and industrial center of the larger town of Warwick. The town split because local Democratic politicians wanted to consolidate their power and isolate their section of town from the Republican-dominated farmland in the east.

West Valley City is a city in Salt Lake County and a suburb of Salt Lake City in the U.S. state of Utah. The population was 129,480 at the 2010 census,
making it the second-largest city in Utah. The city incorporated in 1980 from a large, quickly growing unincorporated area, which was variously known as Granger, Hunter, Chesterfield, and Redwood. It is home to the Maverik Center and USANA Amphitheatre.

West Valley is a former census-designated place (CDP) in Yakima County, Washington, United States. The area has been annexed by the city of Yakima. The population was 10,433 at the 2000 census.

Based on per capita income, West Valley ranks 76th of 522 areas in the state of Washington to be ranked.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.2 square miles (18.6 km²), all of it land.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10,433 people, 3,862 households, and 3,020 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,448.3 people per square mile (559.5/km²). There were 3,964 housing units at an average density of 550.3/sq mi (212.6/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 89.60% White, 0.82% African American, 0.90% Native American, 2.04% Asian, 0.13% Pacific Islander, 3.88% from other races, and 2.62% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.72% of the population.

There were 3,862 households, out of which 39.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.8% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.8% were non-families. 17.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.04.

In the CDP, the age distribution of the population shows 29.2% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.5 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $51,201, and the median income for a family was $55,636. Males had a median income of $41,103 versus $28,922 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $25,765. About 4.0% of families and 5.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.4% of those under age 18 and 3.7% of those age 65 or over.

West University Place, often called West University or West U for short, is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land metropolitan area and southwestern Harris County. At the 2010 U.S. census, the population of the city was 14,787. Its population increased to 15,585 in 2019. It is nicknamed “The Neighborhood City” and is mainly a bedroom community for upper-class families.

West University Place is surrounded by the cities of Bellaire, Houston, and Southside Place. As of 2011, West University Place has the state’s fifth highest concentration of households with incomes $150,000 or greater.

West Springfield is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population was 22,460 at the 2010 census.

West Springfield is a city in Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 28,391 at the 2010 census. The city is also known as “West Side”, in reference to the fact that it is on the western side of the Connecticut River from Springfield, a fact which played a major part in the town’s early history.
