First aid for physical injuries teaches people how to give initial care until medical treatment is accessed, and MHFA does the same for someone experiencing mental ill health.
This weekend we (with Charlie in tow) did a first aid course over the Saturday and Sunday through Give Life Center, a first aid training and first aid supplies business in Lilydale, Victoria. John who presented the course was excellent as he had worked as an ambo for years, and then was a trainer for the Ambos in rescue and recovery.
All in all a great course and it makes us that little bit more comfortable that we have our first aid basics covered off in preparation for the trip. Rider safety trainers Roger and Tracy Hughes are taking their motorcyclist first aid course on the road from today (July 8, 2015) to reach 3000 riders in the next two years.
The monthly First Aid for Motorcyclists half-day course has trained 350 riders in Sydney over the past year. Principal trainer Tracy says they are now getting a lot of demand in other cities and regional centres for the course.
So, from July 2015 it will be available in other major regional centres and capital cities around Australia. Their goal is to put 3000 riders through the half-day course and raise community awareness around motorcycle accident scene and injury management and raise money for the Royal Rehab, Brain and Spinal Injury Units in Ryde. Tracy says it is not a regular first-aid course, but modified for riders with practical and relevant content. Seeing first-hand how critical it is to have good first aid skills and act decisively at an accident scene inspired Tracy to become a Senior First-Aid Instructor for St John Ambulance. By the end of the hands-on training session riders will have learnt when and how to perform emergency helmet removal, give effective CPR, move a casualty in danger, treat a rider with serious road trauma injuries and safely manage the accident scene. Scary, to attempt to put all the information about motorcycle trauma and what to do at the scene of a crash into 3 hours leaves me with critical concerns! Shame Tracy doesn’t give Credit to Accident Scene Management Australia where she learnt her skills and has taken our concepts.
First aid training will equip you with the awareness and practical capabilities of how to react if the worst happens.

The first module of the course introduces the topic and gives helpful information on how to approach an accident, injured person, or someone in need of help. Moving directly on from module 2, module 3 shows you how to assess a patient and talks through how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants. Each of the modules 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 of the First Aid Diploma Course go into specific areas of first aid, discussing when and how treatment should be given and in which situation you would not use certain techniques to treat a patient. Module 9 summarises what has been learnt in the previous modules, whilst also teaching what to do in a medical emergency and discussing first aid in the context of the law. More specifically the course would benefit those who are around other people as part of their profession, for example, care and social workers. This course is certified by the IANLPC (International Association of NLP & Coaching) and the IAHT (International Alliance of Holistic Therapists), both of which are internationally recognised organisations. All course delegates are welcome to attend our regular, ongoing learning and inspirational events. All of the online course materials are emailed over to you as e-documents, if you would prefer a hard copy of the course materials to be posted out to you please select this when checking out.

Phil Lemin an experienced rider and emergency responder with concerns over care at the scene before emergency personnel arrived; came to the USA. The information within is literally a matter of life and death and though we may not always need to use the knowledge, and hopefully we won’t, it’s a great education to have. It’s the knowledge of how to help someone that collapses, cuts themselves, gets hurt in an emergency situation or finds themselves in a medical emergency. This module also covers the commitment that places of work have, to have employees trained in first aid. Also outlined here is what you should have in a basic first aid kit and what a natural or holistic first aid kit should include.
Also taught is: how to correctly monitor a pulse, how to get someone into the recovery position and why you would do this, and when a Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) should be used.

These are the practical modules that give you step-by-step instruction on how to assess a patient and give relevant care to patients suffering from: choking and anaphylaxis, heat and cold conditions, burns and scalds, bleeding and shock, or bone and tissue injuries. We all hope that we would never have need for first aid knowledge but at some point in life we generally do, whether it tending to a small graze or cut and knowing how to properly clean and bandage the wound, to recognising the symptoms of a heart attack, how to aid the sufferer, and potentially saving a life. There is no time limit for completing this course, it can be studied in your own time at your own pace.
We also hold regular inspirational events in Manchester and London for all students studying any of our courses. He said that was not a problem at all which was fantastic as we basically had a private tutor for the weekend and we could stop at any time to look after Charlie if required. The course comes with a course assessment in the form of quizzes, written questions and short essays, once you have completed your course assessment please email or post it back to us for marking, you will then receive your feedback and certificates.
The IANLPC is a global support network for NLP Professionals and coaches, including the fields of Life Coaching, Hypnotherapy Business Coaching, Leadership, Nutritional, CBT, Personal Development and Holistic Therapy.
The events are a great way to watch live demonstrations of different techniques, learn new skills, have a practice with other students and to meet your tutors. Who developed a critical program, endorsed by the Nurses Association on critical things to do at the scene of a crash!
Once you've signed up for any of our courses you will receive details of our different monthly events via email. If you cannot attend our events you can watch a live streaming of the event on our tv channel. I am a survivor of a motorcycle crash and able to by first hand experience share, when doctors said I should be dead, it was because of a person that had taken a certified Accident Scene Management Class. If you want the real deal I suggest you contact Phil Lemin at Accident Scene Management Australia!
