* City Update February 2025 PTAC Meeting * Agenda * Mobility 2024 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * MassDOT Project Update: Maffa Way/Mystic Avenue Bridge superstructure replacements * Overview of Annual Mobility KPIs * Every winter, the Mobility Division publishes an annual progress report. * We dig into trends for transit ridership, pedestrian, bike, and motor vehicle traffic, collected speed data, Bluebikes ridership, and reported crash data. * We also report on key safety deliverables such as traffic calming installations and newly constructed safety improvements. * Preparing and reviewing KPIs helps us learn more about how our transportation environment is changing, see if we met key safety goals, and evaluate our success to prepare for the next year. * This presentation includes highlights of the annual KPIs with a focus on pedestrian and transit KPIs. This allowed for continued conversations about multimodal design to take place without holding up critical bridge replacements. * Phase 1 Construction began in Spring 2024 which reconstructed half of both bridges. * Phase 2 construction will begin in Spring 2025 which will reconstruct the other half of both bridges. * Both phases have been coordinated with MBTA shutdowns to perform critical work while trains are not operating below the structures. * Both bridges are expected to be fully open in Summer 2026 with final completion expected by the end of 2026. * Maffa Way/Mystic Avenue Bridge Superstructure Replacement Project * Previous public information meetings have shared proposed cross sections for both bridges, shown at right. * Somerville has continued to advocate for further design improvements. * The next meetings are: * Monday, February 24 at 6:00 p.m. at the Schrafft's City Center, Café * Wednesday, February 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Somerville Central Public Library * MassDOT will share project updates as well as an updated design for multimodal transportation improvements.
