This is the Rythmic aerobics model and is well suited for any high impact aerobics including Zumba, Jazzercise etc. However, this particular does not offer much arch support as is evidence from the image above. The comfort is especially obvious when you are doing lots of high impact cardio actions such as step aerobics.
When doing the purchase, make sure you differentiate between Gel Runnning and Gel Training. New Balance is another favourite brand of mine as I love that they cut out the advertising crap and focus on making better shoes. It is slightly more expensive than Ryka although the difference is not that big in my humble opinion. It is perfect for high impact aerobics where our feet tend to sweat a lot and needs the air circulation to prevent it our feet from being stinky.
I owned 2 personally, which is the Ryka and the Asics, while the rest are have well rated opinions on Amazon. If you are looking for a pair of high intensity workout shoes, here are some new models that I am keeping my eyes on.
It is light weight and offers support all around, not just at the forefront like a running shoe. In other words, it has very little arch support for flat feet folks again will be uncomfortable wearing these. However, you need to order 0.5 size larger as they always a lot of feedback that most find them too be too small if ordered in true size.
If you need something better than what the shoe can support, one suggestion is to change the shoe bed. It helps stabilizes your body while protecting your feet from any potential injuries.  I have already wrote about the best shoes for squats in this article but I will summarize it here by saying that you should look for shoes with low heel drop and good sole grip for stability.
That is only true if you don’t take the effort to trim the fats of your legs and that can only be done via a combination of exercises such as squats and a healthier diet. What you want to achieve here is to make sure you get all the postures right either for maximum benefit or to avoid injuries. Prepare the right squatting shoes, master the basic motions and good behavior, then mount on the weights. You need to have enough room in the forefoot area for your toes not be crushed during the intense training sessions. However, despite being light weighted, it provides very solid support during your high impact step aerobic workouts. When doing the high impact workouts, you can feel that the shoe is working with you, rather than against you. It took me a long time to get into squatting because it is hard and I was under the impression that my legs will become humongous.  While the former is true, the latter is completely false if you do your squats correctly. It should also have strong support such that your feet will be suffer from any ankle injuries. Squats by itself can help to convert fats into muscles but it looks much better when you change a diet to trim out the remaining fats.
However, doing so places a lot of pressure on your knees and can result in knee ligament injuries. By simply varying the length between your legs or changing their position from side by side to front and back, you can target different muscle groups for both your leg and body. For example, you can practice lifting up using your hips rather than spine which is another common mistake among squat beginners.  Another thing to practice is to keep your head neutral rather than throwing them backwards like we have seen on TV. During this time, pay attention to how your body reacts and see if any parts need to be further strengthened before increasing the intensity of the squats. It is very stiff and provides firm grip on the ground but that is not really necessary when doing regular cross training. As such, I have seen folks wearing these for stuff such as Zumba, PS90 and other kinds of more intensive step aerobics. It has a low heel drop of only 4mm and yet has a comfortable interior to cushion your feet from all the pounding it is going to take from the step aerobics.
