This artist’s illustration shows two Earth-sized planets, TRAPPIST-1b and TRAPPIST-1c, passing in front of their parent red dwarf star, which is much smaller and cooler than our sun.
Using NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers have conducted the first search for atmospheres around temperate, Earth-sized planets beyond our solar system and found indications that increase the chances of habitability on two exoplanets. Specifically, they discovered that the exoplanets TRAPPIST-1b and TRAPPIST-1c, approximately 40 light-years away, are unlikely to have puffy, hydrogen-dominated atmospheres usually found on gaseous worlds. Julien de Wit of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, led a team of scientists to observe the planets in near-infrared light using Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3. The planets orbit a red dwarf star at least 500 million years old, in the constellation of Aquarius. On May 4, 2016, NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope made the first spectroscopic measurements of two of the three known Earth-sized exoplanets in the TRAPPIST-1 system, just 40 light-years away. On May 4, astronomers took advantage of a rare simultaneous transit, when both planets crossed the face of their star within minutes of each other, to measure starlight as it filtered through any existing atmosphere. The researchers hope to use Hubble to conduct follow-up observations to search for thinner atmospheres, composed of elements heavier than hydrogen, like those of Earth and Venus.
Observations from future telescopes, including NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, will help determine the full composition of these atmospheres and hunt for potential biosignatures, such as carbon dioxide and ozone, in addition to water vapor and methane.

There are known factors that can start and worsen the condition.  These factors include exposure to sunlight and heat, aging, and especially hormone fluctuations. Melasma is predominantly seen in women with a high association around the time of pregnancy. The severity of melasma depends on how deep below the skin surface the pigmentation changes occur. A recent study from the Scripps Clinic in San Diego published in the medical journal Lasers in Surgery and Medicine looked at the treatments for melasma and specifically the effectiveness and safety of lasers. After much analysis of previous studies and the results of this study, the conclusion was that a combination approach to melasma worked best, and that lasers can be combined with topical therapies safely without clinically significant side effects. Here at Maine Laser Skin Care, I have definitely found melasma to be a challenging condition to treat, but the results are extremely gratifying when I have succeeded in its treatment. Our current, most successful combination includes Hydrafacials, Obagi NuDerm System and use of laser depending on the severity of the melasma. I always must emphasize that the treatment of melasma is a long-term process, requiring ongoing responsibility for sun avoidance and retreatment for recurrence or resumed darkening.  As always, the initial consultation is the key to determining which combination will be best for you while reassessment and adjustments in therapy may be needed depending on your response to initial treatment. Call Denise or Becky at (207) 873-2158 to set up a free initial consultation to assess melasma or any other aesthetic concern. Seiko Prospex watches are among the best sport watches out there when you want a very good bang for your buck. The most notable detail about the Seiko Prospex Kinetic GMT Diver's watch is the deep three-dimensionality of the dial.

Perhaps the biggest complaint people will have about the Seiko Prospex Kinetic GMT Diver's watch is the case size and thickness.
The case is water resistant to 200 meters and has an AR-coated sapphire crystal over the dial.
Looking around the sides of the case and you'll notice even more interesting details, such as screws and exposed parts of the inner case.
As you can see Seiko will offer the Prospex Kinetic GMT Diver's watch on either a steel bracelet or a polyurethane diver's style strap. The amount can be pleasantly unexpected, with only one call you will know your total savings. They used spectroscopy to decode the light and reveal clues to the chemical makeup of an atmosphere. They were discovered in late 2015 through a series of observations by the TRAnsiting Planets and PlanetesImals Small Telescope (TRAPPIST), a Belgian robotic telescope located at ESA’s (European Space Agency’s) La Silla Observatory in Chile.
The planets are between 20 and 100 times closer to their star than the Earth is to the sun. This double-transit, which occurs only every two years, provided a combined signal that offered simultaneous indicators of the atmospheric characters of the planets.
Webb also will analyze a planet’s temperature and surface pressure – key factors in assessing its habitability.
Dr Burke trained for 3 years in Internal Medicine at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia and is board certified in Internal Medicine. Rare in the United States, but popular in places such as Japan, the Prospex collection is understandably becoming more popular each year.
The Prospex Kinetic GMT Diver's watch is clearly a Seiko, and draws inspiration from many of its famed dive watch designs.
The raised hour markers do make it so that the hands cannot be as long as we might like, but legibility remains very high, and dial is very visually arresting. I've personally never seen this on a Prospex watch and find the overall design very modern and engaging. The watch looks good on both, and depending on the situation, you'll want either the bracelet or strap. Since then, ABTW has become the highest trafficked blog on luxury timepieces, and Ariel has become a contributor to other online publications such as Forbes, Departures and Tech Crunch, to name just a few.
And the minute hand looks like a, well, male organ complete with a Trojan Enz tip (for your cave diving protection). While the content of the atmospheres is unknown and will have to await further observations, the low concentration of hydrogen and helium has scientists excited about the implications.
Because their star is so much fainter than our sun, researchers think that at least one of the planets, TRAPPIST-1c, may be within the star’s habitable zone, where moderate temperatures could allow for liquid water to pool. New for 2014 are the Seiko Prospex Kinetic GMT Diver's 200m watches (references SUN019, SUN021, and SUN023) that will be available globally, and for a few hundred bucks, they are very hard to beat. The case is very much in the style of the classic "Tuna," and the dial melds a range Seiko dive watch designs from the last 40 years. Each of the three Seiko Prospex Kinetic GMT Diver's watch have slightly different dial colors, but each is interesting and enjoyable to read.

Again, that is part of the appeal, and it wears really nicely, but this is a larger watch for sure. The Prospex Kinetic GMT Diver's watch is available with a brushed steel case, or one that is coated in IP black. The Prospex Kinetic GMT Diver's watch feels purposeful as a tool watch, but also interesting a modern sports watch with some welcome character.
Since the bracelet doesn't cost that much more it might be a good idea to get it, but then again, it is only available on the black and white SUN019 version of the watch. His conversational writing style and inclusive attitude brings a wider appreciation for watches the world over, and that's just the way he likes it.
Please don’t let the word get out or we might have a new iconic moniker other than Breguet hands. But the comment feature allows basically anyone on the Internet (including you and me) to express them selves. Well "Diver's watch" presumably, but it is amusing the the title ends with a possessive noun rather than indicating what this item is meant to be for a diver.
As a GMT watch, the GMT hand in blue or white is clearly inspired by the amazing Seiko Spring Drive Spacewalk watch from about five years ago.
This isn't necessary from a technological standpoint, but is really about going along with the traditional large size of the Tuna-style Seiko diver watch cases. Overall, case quality is pretty much what you would expect from a upper-mid-range Seiko diver, though it is uncommon to see a Seiko dive watch with a Kinetic movement that is this elaborate. Those who opt for the more colorful Prospex Kinetic GMT Diver's watch designs will get the black strap.
Seiko switched to lithium capacitors swiftly, and those are rated for 10 years or more of power cycles.
Their exclusive designs are made to deliver feed to target animals, while reducing waste on the ground. Personally, I would have just called it the "Seiko Prospex Kinetic GMT 200m Diver," but what do I know about the complex intricacies of watch nomenclature? Having said all that, the Prospex Kinetic GMT Diver's watch has a personality all to its own, and is available in three versions for 2014. Thus, there is a fourth hand on the dial used for second time zone which makes this not only a good sports watch, but a good travel sports watch. This lithium capacitor should be able to be retrofitted to your old Kinetic, should you want to bother. Well out of warranty the capacitor bit the dust and Seiko replaced it for free… nice of them!
This Seiko looks quite good and since most serious divers travel thru different time zones to dive, the watch is dual use.
