Brazos: This Texas River begins in the northern part of the state in Stonewall County, and flows southeast into Brazoria County and the Gulf of Mexico. One of the major rivers in North America is the Mississippi-Missouri River system, including the major tributaries like the Ohio and Arkansas Rivers. The Mississippi itself travels for 3,734 kilometers (2,320 miles), and the Missouri is about 3,767 kilometers (2,341 miles) long.
North America's Great Lakes are a group of lakes along the border between the United States and Canada in the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada. Important LAEs in the United States include the Chesapeake Bay, the Columbia River Basin, Great Lakes, Gulf of Mexico, Lake Champlain, Long Island Sound, the Pacific Islands, Puget Sound, San Francisco Bay Delta Estuary, and South Florida.
EPA tracks the performance of the LAE Programs and summarizes the results in EPA's National Water Program performance reports. The Bay area is made up out of: Alameda County, Contra Costa County, Marin County, Napa County, San Francisco County, San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, Solano County and Sonoma County. It includes lakes, rivers, wetlands, estuaries, and the airshed and watershed surrounding these water bodies. Furthermore, the analysis concluded that approximately 83 million people living in the Great Lakes region contributed nearly a quarter of the nation's exports and 27 percent of the U.S.
LAEs supply ecological services such as groundwater recharge, flood management, air purification, nutrient cycling, and wildlife habitat. A senior representative of the EPA Office of Research and Development and two EPA Region Water Division Directors also serve on the Council. The Mackenzie River flows 4,241 kilometers (2,635 miles) through Canada's Northwest Territories. With a total volume of 22,671 cubic kilometers (5,439 cubic miles), these five lakes hold 21% of the world's fresh water supply, and are the largest group of freshwater lakes in the world. The 10 LAE programs administered by EPA and listed below conduct long-term planning and management to address the complex factors that contribute to the deterioration. For many years, EPA has worked with state and local governments, tribes, and other organizations within these 10 LAEs to implement programs to restore and protect their valuable assets. These geographic-based programs involve private and public stakeholders at the local and regional levels to address specific problems, such as loss of habitat, polluted runoff, and invasive species. Their activities include water quality monitoring, working with States to negotiate pollution controls, and educating citizens regarding the causes and cures for these environmental problems. These industries, along with others such as manufacturing, shipping, energy production and science and engineering, directly impact local and national economic growth.
Churchill: This river of central Canada rises in northwestern Saskatchewan, then flows east into Manitoba, and on into Hudson Bay.
The Yukon River flows through Alaska, British Columbia, and Yukon, stretching 3,185 square kilometers (1,979 miles). The Great Lakes include Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario.
The Large Aquatic Ecosystems Council was created by EPA to focus on protecting and restoring the health of critical aquatic ecosystems.
Bureau of Labor Statistics and found that the Great Lakes created more than 1.5 million jobs annually and $62 billion in wages.

The Council consists of the Director (or the designee of the Director) from each of the ten Large Aquatic Ecosystem programs, the EPA Deputy Assistant Administrator for Water, who serves as the Chair; and the Directors of the Offices of Wetlands, Oceans and Watersheds, Science and Technology, and Wastewater Management. Farther south, the Rio Grande flows through the US Southwest, and down into Mexico, measuring 3,108 kilometers (1,931 miles). The goal of the Council is to advance the health of the Nation's large aquatic ecosystems and strengthen national water programs by integrating these programs. In addition, LAEs provide considerable recreation and tourism services, particularly within coastal communities. Napa County alone has over 690 wineries and Sonoma is a close second with 570 licensed wineries. EPA provides funding, guidance, and technical support that builds the capacity of the LAE programs to restore and protect their ecosystems with input from local partners. The living resources found within the large ecosystems include fish, birds, plants and other wildlife, providing a significant portion of the world's food supply. It's (1,450 miles) (2,333 km) in length and over the centuries formed numerous canyons along its winding path.
Hydroelectric power development in the river basin brought inexpensive electricity to the Pacific Northwest, but it severely affected salmon spawning and local fish migration.
