Flooding in the Valley is forcing fire departments to rescue several people and place safety warnings.
Several parts of the country -- including Maryland, the Alabama Coast and the Florida Panhandle -- saw severe flash flooding last week.
Abandon your vehicle immediately and climb to higher ground if the vehicle becomes surrounded by water or the engine stalls, and if you can safely get out.


Flash flooding usually happens with little or no advance warning, CityNews meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai said.
Now is a good time to remind your drivers of what steps they can take to stay safe during flash flood conditions.
In the event of flash flooding they'll be on the air letting you know what you should do and where you should go to seek higher ground.


Use caution when abandoning your vehicle, and look for an opportunity to move away quickly and safely to higher ground.
