FAQs

As one of their biggest financial investments people usually have a number of questions before makingany decisions , listed here are some of the more common ones…

Unless you are a certified contractor, most roofing jobs should not be undertaken yourself. Also remember that almost all manufacturers of products used in the roof repair won’t warranty those products unless a licensed roofing contractor performs the work. The other thing to always remember is that working on a roof may be very dangerous, so is it really worth risking your health so you can save money?

It would be fantastic if we could give you a simple response to this question! However there actually is no single answer that fits all for each question like that. There are a lot of unique products available and each one has its own benefits and disadvantages. To figure out which is the ideal roof for your home, you really should have an expert come and examine your roof and they can make recommendations according to what they discover, the type of roof you have, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.

It definitely is dependent on the kind of roof you have and what inspections are mandated. Also, keep in mind that we will be working outside in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we can’t work on particular days then this will certainly add more time to the task. A small home could take around a week or so, while much larger commercial jobs might be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just be sure your roofing company keeps you updated and you really should be fine.

Since your roof is continuously exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is will break down gradually. The rate at which it breaks down will be dependent on a variety of variables. These include; the quality of the original components used as well as the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it has to take from the weather, how well the roof is preserved and the style of the roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but obviously that can never be promised due to the above factors. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should never pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of eliminating any protective minerals that have been added to offer shielding from the elements. Aside from that, you should keep away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they can also reduce the life of your roof. When you converse with your roof cleaning expert, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will clear away the aesthetically displeasing algae and staining without damaging the tile or shingles.

Some roofing system leakages are tough to locate. Sometimes the water appears at a ceiling spot far-off from the leakage. If your ceiling has a plastic vapor barrier between the drywall and the attic insulation, push the insulation aside and search for flow spots on the plastic. Typically water goes to openings in the vapor barrier, such as at ceiling light.

Wetness that gets away into the cold attic from the spaces below often condenses on cold nails. In some cases you can spot this if you climb up into your attic on a cold night. The nails will look white because they’re frosted. When the attic heats up a bit during the day, the frost melts and leaks, then the nails frost up during the night once again and so on.
