FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their largest financial investments people typically have a many questions before makingany decisions , listed here are some of the most common ones…
Unless you’re a qualified contractor, the majority of roofing jobs really should not be undertaken yourself. Additionally remember that most manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those items unless a licensed roofing contractor carries out the job. The other thing to remember is that working on a roof may be very risky, so is it really worth endangering your health for you to save money?
It would be really good if we were able to give you a simple answer to that question! However, there really is no single answer that fits all for every question like that. There are a lot of different products available and each will have its own merits and faults. To know which is the ideal roof for your home, you should have a contractor come and examine your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they discover, the type of roof you have, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It really depends upon the type of roof and what evaluations are needed. Also, bear in mind that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we cannot work on particular days then this will definitely add more time to the task. A small home might take around a week or so, whereas more substantial industrial jobs might be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just ensure that your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Given that your roof is continually exposed to the weather, this means your roof is going to deteriorate gradually. The pace at which it breaks down will depend on a variety of factors. These include; the grade of the original materials used along with the workmanship, the amount of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is maintained and the design of the roof. Most roofing professionals will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but that can never be promised due to the above issues. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure wash your roof, as you run the risk of washing away any covering minerals that have been included to provide protection from the elements. On top of that, you really should try to stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they can also reduce the life of your roof. When you speak with your roof cleaning expert, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will remove the aesthetically displeasing algae and discoloration without damaging the tile or shingles.

More About Mounds, OK
Mounds is a village in Creek County, Oklahoma, United States. It is located just south of Tulsa; the town’s population was 1,168 at the 2010 census, an increase of 1.3 percent from 1,153 at the 2000 census.[5]
The post office for this community was established in 1895 and originally named “Posey”, for the Creek poet Alexander Posey, who lived in Eufaula, Oklahoma. In 1898, the town was moved 5 miles (8 km) southwest and renamed “Mounds” for twin hills that were nearby. By 1901, the St. Louis, Oklahoma and Southern Railway (later the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway) built a track through Mounds, and the town became an important cattle shipping point. Mounds incorporated as a city in the same year. The discovery of oil in the Glenn Pool field in 1905 turned Mounds into a shipping point for crude oil instead of cattle.[6]

House owner maintenance consists of cleaning up the leaves and particles from the roofing system’s valleys and rain gutters. Particles in the valleys can trigger water to wick under the shingles and cause damage to the interior of the roofing. Clogged gutter can cause water to stream back under the shingles on the eaves and cause damage, no matter the roof material.
The very best way to preserve your roofing system is to remain off it. Also, seasonal modifications in the weather condition are typically the most devastating forces. A leaky roofing system can harm ceilings, walls and furnishings. To protect structures and their contents from water damage, roofing professionals repair work and install roofs made of tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made of asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other material.
There are two kinds of roofing systems: flat and pitched (sloped). Many industrial, industrial and apartment have flat or a little sloping roofs. The majority of homes have actually pitched roofs. Some roofers deal with both types; others specialize. Most flat roofings are covered with several layers of products. Roofers initially put a layer of insulation on the roofing system deck.
Next, they install partly overlapping layers of roofing felt, a fabric filled in bitumen, over the surface. Roofing contractors use a mop to spread out hot bitumen over the surface and under the next layer. This seals the joints and makes the surface watertight. Roofing professionals repeat these steps to build up the preferred variety of layers, called plies. To use shingles, roofing professionals initially lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roof felt lengthwise over the entire roofing. Then, beginning with the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roofing system. Employees step and cut the felt and shingles to fit converging roof surfaces and to fit around vent pipelines and chimneys.
Finally, roofing contractors cover exposed nailheads with roof cement or caulking to avoid water leak. Roofers who utilize tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a comparable procedure. Some roofing professionals likewise water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floorings. To prepare surfaces for waterproofing, they hammer and chisel away rough areas, or remove them with a rubbing brick, before applying a coat of liquid waterproofing compound.
When damp-proofing, they typically spray a bitumen-based coating on interior or outside surface areas. Asphalt is the most frequently utilized roofing product. Asphalt products include shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roof, and customized bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are generally the most common and economical option for residential roofing. They can be found in a variety of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles include more than one layer of tabs to offer additional density. Interlocking shingles are used to supply greater wind resistance. And big individual shingles usually come in rectangular and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing items are generally utilized in property applications, mostly for underlayments and flashings. They are available in four various types of material: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced products are utilized mostly as flashing to seal the roofing system at crossways and protrusions, and for offering additional deck security at the roofing’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is used as an underlayment between the roofing system deck and the roof material. Specialty-eaves flashings are usually utilized in climates where ice dams and water backups are typical.
BUR is utilized on flat and low-sloped roofings and consists of multiple layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Elements of a BUR system consist of the roof deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and appearing material. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly consists of continuous plies of saturated felts, coated felts, fabrics or mats in between which alternate layers of bitumen are used, either appeared or unsurfaced.
