FAQs

As one of their biggest investments people always have a many questions before coming to a conclusion , listed here are a number of the more commonplace ones…

Unless you are a trained contractor, most roofing work should never be undertaken yourself. In addition always remember that almost all manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those items unless a licensed professional carries out the task. The other thing to always remember is that working on a roof could be very risky, so is it really worth risking your health for you to save money?

It would be really good if we could give you a straight forward response to that question! But there actually is no one answer fits all for every question like that. There are many different products available and each will have its own merits and disadvantages. To determine which is the right roof for you, you ought to have an expert come and examine your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they discover, your roof design, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.

It definitely depends on the kind of roof and what inspections are mandated. Also, keep in mind that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we cannot work on a number of days then this will definitely add time to the job. A smaller home might take about a week or so, whereas larger industrial projects may be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just ensure that your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you really should be fine.

Considering that your roof is constantly subjected to the weather, it means your roof is going to break down gradually. The speed at which it deteriorates will depend upon a range of factors. These include; the grade of the original components used along with the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is taken care of and the design of the roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but that can never be guaranteed due to the above issues. Our suggestion is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of removing any protective minerals that have been added to give shielding from the weather. Additionally, you should steer clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they may also lower the lifespan of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning specialist, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. That will eliminate the unattractive algae and staining without ruining the tile or shingles.

More About Greenbelt, MD

Greenbelt is a city in Prince George’s County, Maryland, United States, and a suburb of Washington.[1][2] Greenbelt is notable for being the first and the largest of the three experimental and controversial New Deal Greenbelt Towns, planned and built by the Federal government.[6] The cooperative community was conceived in 1935 by Undersecretary of Agriculture Rexford Guy Tugwell, whose perceived collectivist ideology attracted opposition to the Greenbelt Towns project throughout its short duration.[7][6] The project came into legal existence in the spring of 1935. On April 8, 1935, Congress passed the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act of 1935.[8][7] Under the authority granted to him by this legislation, President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued an executive order, on May 1, 1935, establishing the United States Resettlement Administration (RA/RRA).[7]

Originally referred to as Maryland Special Project No. 1, the project was officially given the name Greenbelt when the Division of Suburban Resettlement of the Resettlement Administration began construction on January 13, 1936, approximately eight miles north of Washington.[6] The complete Greenbelt plans were reviewed at the White House by President Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt on April 30, 1936.[6] The first tenants, after being selected through a stringent and restrictive application process, moved into the town, which consisted of structures built in the Art Deco, Streamline Moderne, and Bauhaus architectural styles, on September 30, 1937.[6]

Naturally, in time the roofing system starts to deteriorate from continued weather condition battering. A structurally sound roofing does not fall apart simultaneously but instead breaks down piece by piece along its weak lines. Roofing evaluations discover these vulnerable points early before they spread out and cause extreme damage to part or the entire roofing.

Roofing evaluations at routine periods root out roofing system issues before they can even manifest themselves; extending the lifespan of your roofing system. Most house owners just pay attention to their roofings when there is visible damage, such as leaks and structural failure. Fact is, with regular inspection such problems are typically averted.

Roof assessments save you both money and time and are among the many basic roofing upkeep practices. There are several factors that can trigger a roofing system’s condition to deteriorate with time. These are the results property owners are least knowledgeable about because the indications are subtle and require time to show.: Weather elements are the primary reason for roof damage.

The weather condition slowly wears away and erodes the roof product, and put pressure onto the roofing system structure. Poor or lack of roof upkeep practices such as cleaning, painting, mold removal and snow scraping add to the using down of the roofing. Not all roofing specialists are as good as marketed.
