FAQs
Being one of their most significant financial investments people usually have a number of questions before coming to a conclusion , below are a number of the most common ones…
Unless you’re a properly trained contractor, the majority of roofing work really should not be performed yourself. Also bear in mind that the majority of manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those items unless a licensed professional performs the task. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof can be very hazardous, so is it really worth risking your health for you to save money?
It would be fantastic if we could give you a simple answer to this question! But there really is no single answer that fits all for each question like that. There are many different products available and each and every one has its own benefits and disadvantages. To figure out which is the right roof for your home, you should have a professional come and check out your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they discover, your roof design, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It really depends upon the type of roof you have and what surveys are required. Also, remember that we will be working outside in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we cannot work on a number of days then this is going to add more time to the task. A small home might take around a week or so, while much larger industrial projects can be anything from several weeks to a few months. Just make certain your roofing company keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Since your roof is constantly subjected to the weather, it means your roof is will break down with time. The speed at which it breaks down will depend upon a number of variables. These include; the grade of the original materials used and the workmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is taken care of and the type of roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed as a result of the above issues. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You shouldn’t ever pressure wash your roof, as you run the risk of taking off any covering materials that have been added to offer shielding from the elements. In addition, you should stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaners since they may also lower the life of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning expert, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will eliminate the ugly algae and discoloration without ruining the tile or shingles.

More About Tontitown, AR
Tontitown is a city in Washington County, Arkansas, United States. The community is located in the Ozark Mountains and was founded by Italian settlers in 1898. Known for its grapes and wines, Tontitown has hosted the Tontitown Grape Festival continuously since 1898. It is part of the Northwest Arkansas metropolitan area, serving as a bedroom community for larger neighbors Fayetteville and Springdale. The town experienced a 160% growth in population between the 2000 and 2010 censuses.[3]
Led by Catholic priest Pietro Bandini, who eventually became mayor of the city,[4] Italian settlers working on Lakeport Plantation in the Arkansas delta moved to northwest Arkansas and found the climate and terrain similar to their native Northern Italy. Tontitown was settled in 1898 and named for Italian explorer Henri de Tonti.[5] It was incorporated as a city in 1909.[4]

Property owner upkeep consists of cleaning the leaves and particles from the roofing system’s valleys and rain gutters. Debris in the valleys can cause water to wick under the shingles and trigger damage to the interior of the roofing. Blocked gutter can trigger water to recede under the shingles on the eaves and trigger damage, despite the roofing product.
The very best method to maintain your roofing system is to remain off it. Likewise, seasonal changes in the weather are generally the most harmful forces. A leaky roof can harm ceilings, walls and furnishings. To safeguard structures and their contents from water damage, roofing contractors repair and install roofings made from tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made of asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other product.
There are two kinds of roofing systems: flat and pitched (sloped). Most commercial, industrial and apartment structures have flat or a little sloping roofings. The majority of houses have pitched roofings. Some roofing contractors deal with both types; others specialize. Most flat roofs are covered with a number of layers of products. Roofing professionals first put a layer of insulation on the roof deck.
Next, they install partly overlapping layers of roofing felt, a material filled in bitumen, over the surface area. Roofing professionals utilize a mop to spread out hot bitumen over the surface area and under the next layer. This seals the seams and makes the surface area watertight. Roofing professionals repeat these actions to develop up the desired variety of layers, called plies. To apply shingles, roofing contractors first lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roofing felt lengthwise over the entire roof. Then, beginning from the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roof. Employees step and cut the felt and shingles to fit intersecting roofing surface areas and to fit around vent pipelines and chimneys.
Lastly, roofers cover exposed nailheads with roof cement or caulking to prevent water leakage. Roofing contractors who utilize tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a similar procedure. Some roofing professionals also water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floorings. To prepare surfaces for waterproofing, they hammer and chisel away rough spots, or remove them with a rubbing brick, before applying a coat of liquid waterproofing substance.
When damp-proofing, they typically spray a bitumen-based finish on interior or exterior surfaces. Asphalt is the most typically used roof material. Asphalt products consist of shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roof, and modified bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are generally the most common and cost-effective option for property roof. They come in a variety of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles include more than one layer of tabs to provide extra density. Interlocking shingles are used to supply higher wind resistance. And big private shingles typically come in rectangle-shaped and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing products are generally used in domestic applications, primarily for underlayments and flashings. They are available in four different kinds of material: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced products are utilized primarily as flashing to seal the roof at crossways and protrusions, and for supplying extra deck defense at the roofing system’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is used as an underlayment between the roofing deck and the roof material. Specialty-eaves flashings are usually utilized in environments where ice dams and water backups are common.
BUR is utilized on flat and low-sloped roofings and includes several layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Elements of a BUR system include the roofing system deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and emerging product. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly includes constant plies of saturated felts, coated felts, materials or mats in between which alternate layers of bitumen are applied, either emerged or unsurfaced.
