FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Being one of their most significant financial investments people typically have a ton of questions before coming to a conclusion , below are a few of the more commonplace ones…

Unless you are a certified contractor, most roofing jobs really should not be carried out yourself. Also bear in mind that the majority of manufacturers of products used in the roof repair will not warranty those products unless a certified professional carries out the job. The other thing to always remember is that working on a roof may be very hazardous, so is it really worth endangering your health so you can save money?

It would be great if we were able to give you a simple response to that question! However there really is no single answer fits all for each question like that. There are many different products available and each and every one will have its own benefits and faults. To know which is the right roof for you, you ought to have an expert come and take a look at your roof and they can make recommendations according to what they find, your roof design, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.

It really depends upon the type of roof you currently have and what inspections are needed. Also, bear in mind that we will be working outside in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we can’t work on a number of days then this is going to add more time to the job. A smaller home might take about a week or so, whereas larger commercial projects could be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just make certain your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you should be fine.

Since your roof is continuously subjected to the outside elements, it means your roof is will degrade with time. The pace at which it breaks down will depend upon a number of variables. These include; the grade of the initial materials used and the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is taken care of and the type of roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but obviously that can never be promised because of the above factors. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to be sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should not ever pressure-wash your roof, as you take the risk of taking off any protective materials that have been included to provide protection from the elements. Furthermore, you should keep away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they can also decrease the lifespan of your roof. When you speak with your roof cleaning professional, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. That will get rid of the unsightly algae and discoloration without destroying the tile or shingles.

More About Tontitown, AR

Tontitown is a city in Washington County, Arkansas, United States. The community is located in the Ozark Mountains and was founded by Italian settlers in 1898. Known for its grapes and wines, Tontitown has hosted the Tontitown Grape Festival continuously since 1898. It is part of the Northwest Arkansas metropolitan area, serving as a bedroom community for larger neighbors Fayetteville and Springdale. The town experienced a 160% growth in population between the 2000 and 2010 censuses.[3]

Led by Catholic priest Pietro Bandini, who eventually became mayor of the city,[4] Italian settlers working on Lakeport Plantation in the Arkansas delta moved to northwest Arkansas and found the climate and terrain similar to their native Northern Italy. Tontitown was settled in 1898 and named for Italian explorer Henri de Tonti.[5] It was incorporated as a city in 1909.[4]

The terrific climate includes a price, however. It can be rough on roofs. Our business prides itself on keeping your industrial roof and domestic roof in prime condition. If you require a brand-new roofing, we will install it. If you require repair work, we will do a quality job. We constantly strive to enhance our capability as property and commercial roofing contractors.

We use trust, stability, quality, and comfort. Numerous companies can provide you a roof, however very few can give you the safe and secure feeling that we do. Dealing with a quality roof company lowers your worry and permits you to focus on your work and your household.

House owner maintenance consists of cleaning the leaves and particles from the roof’s valleys and rain gutters. Debris in the valleys can trigger water to wick under the shingles and cause damage to the interior of the roof. Blocked gutter can cause water to stream back under the shingles on the eaves and trigger damage, no matter the roof product.

The best way to protect your roofing system is to remain off it. Also, seasonal modifications in the weather are generally the most devastating forces. A leaky roofing system can damage ceilings, walls and home furnishings. To secure structures and their contents from water damage, roofing professionals repair work and set up roofings made of tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made from asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other product.

There are two types of roofing systems: flat and pitched (sloped). A lot of business, commercial and apartment or condo buildings have flat or slightly sloping roofs. Many houses have pitched roofing systems. Some roofing professionals deal with both types; others specialize. Many flat roofs are covered with a number of layers of materials. Roofers first put a layer of insulation on the roofing deck.

Next, they set up partly overlapping layers of roofing felt, a material filled in bitumen, over the surface. Roofers utilize a mop to spread hot bitumen over the surface and under the next layer. This seals the seams and makes the surface area watertight. Roofing professionals repeat these steps to develop the wanted variety of layers, called plies. To apply shingles, roofing professionals initially lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roof felt lengthwise over the entire roofing. Then, starting from the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roof. Employees step and cut the felt and shingles to fit converging roof surface areas and to fit around vent pipes and chimneys.

Finally, roofing contractors cover exposed nailheads with roof cement or caulking to prevent water leakage. Roofing contractors who utilize tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a similar procedure. Some roofing contractors likewise water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floorings. To prepare surfaces for waterproofing, they hammer and sculpt away rough areas, or remove them with a rubbing brick, prior to using a coat of liquid waterproofing compound.

When damp-proofing, they typically spray a bitumen-based coating on interior or outside surface areas. Asphalt is the most commonly utilized roof material. Asphalt items consist of shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roofing, and modified bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are usually the most common and cost-effective option for residential roof. They come in a range of colors, shapes and textures.

Laminated shingles include more than one layer of tabs to provide additional thickness. Interlocking shingles are utilized to offer greater wind resistance. And big private shingles generally are available in rectangular and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing items are generally used in domestic applications, mostly for underlayments and flashings. They can be found in 4 different kinds of product: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.

Smooth-surfaced products are utilized primarily as flashing to seal the roofing system at crossways and protrusions, and for providing additional deck security at the roof’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is used as an underlayment in between the roofing system deck and the roof material. Specialty-eaves flashings are generally used in environments where ice dams and water backups are common.

BUR is utilized on flat and low-sloped roofs and consists of several layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Parts of a BUR system consist of the roofing system deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and appearing product. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly includes constant plies of saturated felts, layered felts, materials or mats in between which alternate layers of bitumen are applied, either appeared or unsurfaced.
