FAQs

Being one of their biggest financial investments people typically have a many questions before makingany decisions , below are a number of the most commonplace ones…

Unless you’re a certified roofing professional, most roofing tasks really should not be performed yourself. In addition remember that a lot of manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those products unless a certified roofing contractor carries out the task. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof may be very hazardous, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health in order to save money?

It would be great if we could give you a simple response to that question! However, there really is no one answer fits all for each question like that. There are so many different products readily available and each and every one will have its own benefits and faults. To know which is the right roof for your home, you really should have an expert come and examine your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they find, the type of roof you have, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.

It actually depends upon the kind of roof you have and what inspections are mandated. Also, remember that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we can’t work on a number of days then this is going to add time to the task. A smaller home might take about a week or so, while larger industrial jobs could be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just see to it your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.

Since your roof is consistently exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is going to deteriorate gradually. The rate at which it breaks down will be dependent on a number of factors. These include; the quality of the initial materials used as well as the workmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is preserved and the design of the roof. Most roofing professionals will quote around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but that can never be promised due to the above factors. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to be sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of washing away any protective minerals that have been added to give protection from the elements. Also, you should keep away from chlorine-based bleach cleaners since they can easily also diminish the lifespan of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning specialist, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. This will clear away the aesthetically displeasing algae and yellowing without destroying the tile or shingles.
