FAQs
As one of their biggest expenditures people typically have a bunch of questions before coming to a conclusion , listed here are a number of the more commonplace ones…
Unless you are a certified contractor, the majority of roofing jobs really should not be carried out yourself. Also keep in mind that most manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those products unless a licensed roofing contractor carries out the work. The other thing to bear in mind is that working on a roof can be very hazardous, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health for you to save money?
It would be really good if we were able to give you a straight forward answer to that question! However there actually is no single answer fits all for every question like that. There are several different products readily available and each one will have its own benefits and faults. To know which is the ideal roof for you, you really should have an expert come and check out your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they observe, the type of roof you have, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It definitely depends on the type of roof you have and what surveys are needed. Also, bear in mind that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we just can’t work on particular days then this will add time to the job. A small home may take about a week or so, while more substantial commercial projects could be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just see to it your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Given that your roof is continuously subjected to the outside elements, it means your roof is going to diminish over time. The pace at which it breaks down will depend on a variety of variables. These include; the quality of the initial materials that were used as well as the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is maintained and the style of the roof. Most roofing professionals will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed due to the above factors. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You shouldn’t ever pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of removing any covering minerals that have been added to give protection from the elements. In addition, you really should steer clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they can also reduce the life-span of your roof. When you communicate with your roof cleaning specialist, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will remove the undesirable algae and discoloration without damaging the tile or shingles.

More About Cape Charles, VA
Cape Charles is a town / municipal corporation in Northampton County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,009 as of the 2010 U.S.Decennial Census.
Cape Charles, located close to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, was founded in 1884 as a planned community by railroad and ferry interests. In 1883, William Lawrence Scott became president of the New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk Railroad Company (NYP&N), and purchased three plantations comprising approximately 2,509 acres from the heirs of former Virginia Governor Littleton Waller Tazewell. Of this land, 40 acres were ceded to the NYP&N, and 136 acres went to create the Town of Cape Charles (technically known as the “Municipal Corporation of Cape Charles”). Some of this land, named Cape Charles for the geographical cape found on the Point and headland to the south, Scott sold to the Railroad Company to serve as the southern terminus of the line on the Delmarva Peninsula from the Northeast states. In that same year, construction of the railroad began. In Cape Charles, the Railroad Company built a harbor port to handle steamships and freighters from Cape Charles to Norfolk.
Some roofing system leaks are hard to find. In some cases the water appears at a ceiling area remote from the leak. If your ceiling has a plastic vapor barrier between the drywall and the attic insulation, press the insulation aside and search for circulation stains on the plastic. Frequently water goes to openings in the vapor barrier, such as at ceiling light fixtures.

Wetness that escapes into the cold attic from the spaces below typically condenses on cold nails. In some cases you can spot this if you climb into your attic on a cold night. The nails will look white due to the fact that they’re frosted. When the attic warms up a bit throughout the day, the frost melts and leaks, then the nails frost up in the evening once again and so on.
