FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
As one of their biggest expenditures people always have a number of questions before makingany decisions , below are some of the more commonplace ones…
Unless you’re a properly trained roofing professional, the majority of roofing tasks should not be carried out yourself. Additionally bear in mind that almost all manufacturers of products used in the roof repair will not warranty those items unless a certified professional performs the work. The other thing to always remember is that working on a roof can be very risky, so is it really worth risking your health in order to save money?
It would be great if we could give you a straight forward response to that question! However, there really is no single answer fits all for each question like that. There are several unique products readily available and each and every one has its own merits and faults. To determine which is the best roof for you, you really should have a contractor come and take a look at your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they find, your roof design, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It actually depends on the kind of roof and what surveys are mandated. Also, remember that we will be working outside in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we just can’t work on certain days then this will certainly add more time to the task. A small home could take around a week or so, whereas much larger industrial jobs can be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just see to it your roofing company keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Given that your roof is continually exposed to the outside elements, this means your roof is going to degrade gradually. The rate at which it deteriorates will depend on a range of variables. Those include; the quality of the original materials used as well as the workmanship, the amount of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is preserved and the style of the roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed as a result of the above issues. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure wash your roof, as you run the risk of taking off any covering materials that have been included to provide protection from the elements. Also, you should keep away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they can easily also reduce the lifespan of your roof. When you talk to your roof cleaning specialist, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. That will eliminate the ugly algae and discoloration without ruining the tile or shingles.

More About Cape Charles, VA
Cape Charles is a town / municipal corporation in Northampton County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,009 as of the 2010 U.S.Decennial Census.
Cape Charles, located close to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, was founded in 1884 as a planned community by railroad and ferry interests. In 1883, William Lawrence Scott became president of the New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk Railroad Company (NYP&N), and purchased three plantations comprising approximately 2,509 acres from the heirs of former Virginia Governor Littleton Waller Tazewell. Of this land, 40 acres were ceded to the NYP&N, and 136 acres went to create the Town of Cape Charles (technically known as the “Municipal Corporation of Cape Charles”). Some of this land, named Cape Charles for the geographical cape found on the Point and headland to the south, Scott sold to the Railroad Company to serve as the southern terminus of the line on the Delmarva Peninsula from the Northeast states. In that same year, construction of the railroad began. In Cape Charles, the Railroad Company built a harbor port to handle steamships and freighters from Cape Charles to Norfolk.
Some roofing system leaks are hard to locate. Sometimes the water appears at a ceiling spot far-off from the leakage. If your ceiling has a plastic vapor barrier between the drywall and the attic insulation, push the insulation aside and look for circulation discolorations on the plastic. Typically water runs to openings in the vapor barrier, such as at ceiling light.

Moisture that leaves into the cold attic from the spaces below often condenses on cold nails. Often you can spot this if you go up into your attic on a cold night. The nails will look white due to the fact that they’re frosted. When the attic warms up a bit throughout the day, the frost melts and drips, then the nails frost up during the night once again and so on.
