FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their largest expenditures people usually have a bunch of questions prior to makingany decisions , below are a number of the most common ones…
Unless you’re a qualified contractor, the majority of roofing jobs should never be undertaken yourself. In addition keep in mind that a lot of manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those products unless a certified professional carries out the job. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof could be very hazardous, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health so you can save money?
It would be great if we were able to give you a simple response to that question! However, there really is no single answer fits all for every question like that. There are a lot of unique products available and each one has its own advantages and faults. To determine which is the ideal roof for you, you should have a contractor come and check out your roof and they can make suggestions based on what they see, the type of roof you have, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It definitely is dependent on the kind of roof you have and what surveys are required. Also, keep in mind that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we cannot work on particular days then this will definitely add time to the job. A small home could take about a week or so, while larger industrial projects can be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just ensure your roofing company keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Because your roof is consistently exposed to the outside elements, this means your roof is will diminish with time. The pace at which it breaks down will be dependent on a range of factors. Those include; the grade of the original materials used along with the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is maintained and the style of the roof. Most roofing professionals will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but that can never be promised due to the above variables. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should not ever pressure-wash your roof, as you take the risk of taking off any covering minerals that have been added to offer cover from the weather. Also, you should steer clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaners since they could also reduce the life-span of your roof. When you speak with your roof cleaning expert, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will get rid of the undesirable algae and staining without destroying the tile or shingles.

More About Cape Charles, VA
Cape Charles is a town / municipal corporation in Northampton County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,009 as of the 2010 U.S.Decennial Census.
Cape Charles, located close to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, was founded in 1884 as a planned community by railroad and ferry interests. In 1883, William Lawrence Scott became president of the New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk Railroad Company (NYP&N), and purchased three plantations comprising approximately 2,509 acres from the heirs of former Virginia Governor Littleton Waller Tazewell. Of this land, 40 acres were ceded to the NYP&N, and 136 acres went to create the Town of Cape Charles (technically known as the “Municipal Corporation of Cape Charles”). Some of this land, named Cape Charles for the geographical cape found on the Point and headland to the south, Scott sold to the Railroad Company to serve as the southern terminus of the line on the Delmarva Peninsula from the Northeast states. In that same year, construction of the railroad began. In Cape Charles, the Railroad Company built a harbor port to handle steamships and freighters from Cape Charles to Norfolk.
Some roof leakages are tough to locate. Sometimes the water appears at a ceiling spot far-off from the leak. If your ceiling has a plastic vapor barrier in between the drywall and the attic insulation, push the insulation aside and look for circulation stains on the plastic. Typically water goes to openings in the vapor barrier, such as at ceiling light.

Wetness that leaves into the cold attic from the rooms below typically condenses on cold nails. In some cases you can find this if you climb up into your attic on a cold night. The nails will look white since they’re frosted. When the attic warms up a bit throughout the day, the frost melts and drips, then the nails frost up at night again and so on.

To fix a roofing system or not, that is the concern. In fact, the concern is based upon whether the expense deserves doing it now, or waiting a while. In which case, it is more like a gamble. Our goal with this guide is to make certain you are much better equipped for handling what truly is a continuous wager between your roof and the elements outside, along with the element of time.
Do nothing between now and the next time your roofing needs to be replaced and the chances are against you. Sure you may get fortunate, but you have sufficient opportunity to make your own luck.
