FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Being one of their largest expenditures people typically have a bunch of questions before makingany decisions , below are a few of the more commonplace ones…

Unless you’re a qualified contractor, the majority of roofing jobs shouldn’t be undertaken yourself. In addition bear in mind that most manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof will not warranty those products unless a certified roofing contractor performs the work. The other thing to bear in mind is that working on a roof could be very hazardous, so is it really worth endangering your health in order to save money?

It would be really good if we could give you a straight forward response to that question! However, there actually is no one answer fits all for each question like that. There are plenty of unique products available and each will have its own advantages and faults. To know which is the best roof for you, you really should have a professional come and check out your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they discover, your roof design, the climate you live in and, of course, your budget.

It definitely depends on the kind of roof you have and what inspections are needed. Also, bear in mind that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we can’t work on certain days then this is going to add more time to the task. A small home might take about a week or so, while more substantial commercial jobs can be anything from several weeks to a few months. Just ensure that your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.

Due to the fact that your roof is constantly exposed to the weather, it means your roof is will break down with time. The rate at which it degrades will depend on a variety of variables. Those include; the quality of the initial materials that were used along with the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is maintained and the style of the roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but obviously that can never be promised because of the above issues. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should never pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of washing away any protective materials that have been added to provide cover from the elements. On top of that, you really should stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they may also lower the life-span of your roof. When you talk to your roof cleaning professional, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. This will remove the unattractive algae and discoloration without destroying the tile or shingles.

Many house owners just pay attention to their roofings when there is noticeable damage, such as leaks and structural failure. Reality is, with regular inspection such issues are normally evaded.
