FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Being one of their largest investments people typically have a plenty of questions prior to makingany decisions , listed here are a few of the most common ones…

Unless you are a properly trained contractor, most roofing jobs should never be carried out yourself. In addition bear in mind that most manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those products unless a certified roofing contractor carries out the task. The other thing to always remember is that working on a roof is going to be very dangerous, so is it really worth endangering your health for you to save money?

It would be great if we could give you a straight forward response to this question! However, there really is no single answer fits all for each question like that. There are several different products readily available and each and every one will have its own advantages and disadvantages. To know which is the right roof for your home, you really should have a contractor come and examine your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they discover, the type of roof you have, the climate you live in and, of course, your budget.

It actually depends on the type of roof you have and exactly what evaluations are required. Also, keep in mind that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we just can’t work on certain days then this is going to add time to the job. A smaller home might take about a week or so, while much larger industrial projects might be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just ensure your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you should be fine.

Given that your roof is always exposed to the outside elements, this means your roof is will break down over time. The pace at which it deteriorates will depend upon a number of factors. These include; the grade of the initial components that were used and the workmanship, the level of abuse it has to take from the weather, how well the roof is maintained and the style of the roof. Most roofing contractors will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but that can never be guaranteed as a result of the above variables. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should not ever pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of getting rid of any protective minerals that have been added to offer shielding from the weather. Also, you should avoid chlorine-based bleach cleaners since they may also diminish the life-span of your roof. When you converse with your roof cleaning specialist, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will eliminate the undesirable algae and staining without ruining the tile or shingles.

More About Occoquan, VA

Occoquan (/ˈɒkəkwɒn/)[6] is a town in Prince William County, Virginia. The population was 934 at the 2010 United States Census. The town is a suburb of Washington, D.C. and is adjacent to Woodbridge. The current mayor is Earnest W. Porta Jr.

Occoquan is derived from an Algonquian Doeg Indian word, meaning “at the end of the water”.[7] Located on the Occoquan River, Occoquan was long a site of indigenous peoples’ habitation. Like the British colonists after them, they relied on the river for transportation and trade, as well as fish. Early in the 1600s Capt. John Smith sailed and explored the Occoquan River.[8]
In 1608, when the first European reached Northern Virginia, the Tauxenent tribe (also known by the English as the “Dogues”) had its main village at the mouth of the Occoquan River. This tribe was more closely associated with neighbors such as the Piscataways (located across the Potomac River in what is now Maryland) than the other Algonquian-speaking tribes to the south. The local chief was called a Tayac, who was subservient to an “emperor” located in Prince Georges County.[9]

Learn More Consider the roofing system as the home’s very first line of defense versus all the weather components. Naturally, over time the roofing begins to compromise from continued weather condition battering. A structurally sound roofing does not collapse at one time but rather breaks down piece by piece along its weak lines. Roof inspections detect these weak points early before they spread out and trigger severe damage to part or the entire roofing system.

Roofing system examinations at routine intervals root out roofing problems before they can even manifest themselves; extending the life expectancy of your roofing. Many property owners only take notice of their roofing systems when there is obvious damage, such as leaks and structural failure. Reality is, with routine evaluation such issues are typically averted.

Roofing inspections conserve you both money and time and are among the many basic roofing system maintenance practices. There are several aspects that can cause a roof’s condition to weaken with time. These are the results homeowners are least familiar with because the signs are subtle and take time to show.: Weather components are the main reason for roof damage.

The weather slowly wears away and erodes the roofing product, and put strain onto the roofing structure. Poor or lack of roof upkeep practices such as cleansing, painting, mold removal and snow scraping contribute to the wearing down of the roofing system. Not all roofing specialists are as good as advertised. Due to absence of skill or simply carelessness, a roofing system is improperly set up, impacting its efficiency as a roofing system and its resilience to damage.
