FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their largest expenditures people always have a many questions prior to coming to a conclusion , below are a number of the most commonplace ones…
Unless you are a trained contractor, the majority of roofing tasks really should not be undertaken yourself. Also keep in mind that most manufacturers of products used in the roof repair won’t warranty those products unless a licensed professional carries out the work. Something else to keep in mind is that working on a roof can be very dangerous, so is it really worth risking your health in order to save money?
It would be fantastic if we could give you a simple answer to this question! However, there actually is no one answer that fits all for each question like that. There are several unique products readily available and each one has its own merits and faults. To know which is the best roof for your home, you ought to have a professional come and check out your roof and they can make recommendations according to what they have seen, your roof design, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It really depends upon the type of roof and what inspections are required. Also, remember that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we just can’t work on certain days then this will add more time to the job. A small home may take around a week or so, while much larger industrial jobs could be anything from several weeks to a few months. Just make certain your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Considering that your roof is constantly subjected to the weather, this means your roof is going to degrade with time. The pace at which it degrades will depend upon a variety of variables. These include; the grade of the original materials that were used along with the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is maintained and the style of the roof. Most roofing contractors will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but that can never be promised because of the above variables. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you take the risk of getting rid of any covering materials that have been included to give protection from the elements. In addition, you should stay clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they can easily also decrease the lifespan of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning specialist, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. This will clear away the unsightly algae and yellowing without ruining the tile or shingles.

Some roofing system leakages are difficult to locate. Sometimes the water appears at a ceiling area distant from the leakage. If your ceiling has a plastic vapor barrier between the drywall and the attic insulation, press the insulation aside and try to find circulation stains on the plastic. Often water runs to openings in the vapor barrier, such as at ceiling light fixtures.

Moisture that escapes into the cold attic from the rooms below frequently condenses on cold nails. In some cases you can spot this if you climb up into your attic on a cold night. The nails will look white since they’re frosted. When the attic heats up a bit throughout the day, the frost melts and drips, then the nails frost up during the night once again and so on.

To fix a roofing system or not, that is the question. In fact, the question is based on whether the cost is worth doing it now, or waiting a while. In which case, it is more like a gamble. And a wager that each home owner makes practically every day. Yet, when an obvious problem turns up, such as water trickling overhead, into your living area, the choice is simple: fix the leakage! Do absolutely nothing in between now and the next time your roofing needs to be replaced and the chances protest you. Sure you may get lucky, but you have adequate chance to make your own luck. To be wise with the wager. To keep little issues as little and handle larger problems with effectiveness.

But how boring would the world, or your area, be if all homes had similar roofs?
