FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their most significant investments people usually have a number of questions before makingany decisions , below are a number of the more common ones…
Unless you are a properly trained contractor, most roofing work really should not be undertaken yourself. Additionally always remember that the majority of manufacturers of products utilized in the roof repair won’t warranty those items unless a licensed roofing contractor performs the job. Something else to keep in mind is that working on a roof could be very hazardous, so is it really worth endangering your health so you can save money?
It would be really good if we could give you a simple response to that question! But there actually is no one answer fits all for every question like that. There are several different products readily available and each will have its own advantages and faults. To figure out which is the right roof for you, you ought to have an expert come and examine your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they discover, your roof design, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It actually depends upon the kind of roof you currently have and what inspections are mandated. Also, remember that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we just can’t work on certain days then this will definitely add time to the task. A small home might take around a week or so, whereas larger commercial projects might be anything from several weeks to a number of months. Just be sure your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Due to the fact that your roof is always exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is will break down gradually. The speed at which it breaks down will depend upon a variety of variables. These include; the grade of the initial materials that were used along with the workmanship, the amount of abuse it has to take from the weather, how well the roof is maintained and the style of the roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but obviously that can never be promised because of the above issues. Our advice is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of getting rid of any protective minerals that have been included to offer cover from the weather. Furthermore, you really should avoid chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they can also cut down the life-span of your roof. When you converse with your roof cleaning specialist, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will clear away the unappealing algae and discoloration without ruining the tile or shingles.

More About Matthews, NC
Matthews is a town in southeastern Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It is a suburb of Charlotte. The population was 27,198 according to the 2010 Census.
In the early 19th century, the early settlement that would become Matthews was unofficially named Stumptown for the copious amount of tree stumps left from making way for cotton farms. The community’s name later changed to Fullwood, named after appointed area postmaster John Miles Fullwood. The establishment of a sawmill and the cotton and timber industry helped Fullwood change into a town. Prior to the first train arriving on December 15, 1874, Fullwood acted as a stagecoach stop between Charlotte and Monroe. The town was incorporated into a municipal corporation in 1879 and was renamed to Matthews for Edward Watson Matthews, a prominent resident, and director of the Central Carolina Railroad, which would later become known as the Seaboard Air Line Railroad.[4][5]
The Seaboard Air Line Fell Into Seaboard On July 1, 1967. Seaboard Then Merged With Chessie System To Create CSX (Chessie Seaboard X)

The terrific climate comes with a price, nevertheless. It can be rough on roofing systems. Our business prides itself on keeping your industrial roof and residential roof in prime condition. If you require a new roofing system, we will install it. If you require repairs, we will do a quality task. We continuously aim to improve our ability as residential and commercial roofing contractors.

We provide trust, integrity, quality, and assurance. Many business can offer you a roofing, but very few can offer you the secure feeling that we do. Working with a quality roof business decreases your worry and enables you to focus on your work and your household.
House owner maintenance includes cleaning the leaves and debris from the roofing’s valleys and rain gutters. Debris in the valleys can cause water to wick under the shingles and cause damage to the interior of the roof. Blocked gutter can cause water to recede under the shingles on the eaves and trigger damage, despite the roofing product.
The very best method to preserve your roofing system is to stay off it. Likewise, seasonal changes in the weather condition are typically the most devastating forces. A leaking roof can harm ceilings, walls and furnishings. To secure structures and their contents from water damage, roofing professionals repair and install roofing systems made of tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made from asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other material.
There are 2 types of roofings: flat and pitched (sloped). Many industrial, commercial and apartment have flat or slightly sloping roofs. Most houses have actually pitched roofings. Some roofing contractors deal with both types; others specialize. Many flat roofs are covered with several layers of materials. Roofers first put a layer of insulation on the roof deck.
Next, they set up partially overlapping layers of roofing felt, a material saturated in bitumen, over the surface area. Roofers use a mop to spread out hot bitumen over the surface and under the next layer. This seals the seams and makes the surface watertight. Roofing professionals duplicate these steps to develop the desired number of layers, called plies. To use shingles, roofing professionals first lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roofing felt lengthwise over the entire roofing system. Then, beginning with the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roofing. Employees step and cut the felt and shingles to fit intersecting roof surfaces and to fit around vent pipelines and chimneys.
Lastly, roofers cover exposed nailheads with roof cement or caulking to prevent water leak. Roofers who use tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a comparable process. Some roofing contractors also water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floorings. To prepare surface areas for waterproofing, they hammer and chisel away rough areas, or remove them with a rubbing brick, before using a coat of liquid waterproofing substance.
When damp-proofing, they typically spray a bitumen-based finish on interior or exterior surface areas. Asphalt is the most typically used roof material. Asphalt products include shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roof, and modified bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are generally the most typical and cost-effective option for property roof. They come in a variety of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles include more than one layer of tabs to provide additional thickness. Interlocking shingles are utilized to supply greater wind resistance. And big private shingles usually come in rectangular and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing items are generally used in property applications, mostly for underlayments and flashings. They are available in four various kinds of product: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced products are utilized mainly as flashing to seal the roofing system at intersections and protrusions, and for supplying extra deck defense at the roofing system’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is used as an underlayment between the roof deck and the roofing product. Specialty-eaves flashings are typically used in climates where ice dams and water backups are common.
BUR is used on flat and low-sloped roofs and includes multiple layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Elements of a BUR system include the roof deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and surfacing material. A customized bitumen-membrane assembly consists of constant plies of saturated felts, layered felts, fabrics or mats in between which alternate layers of bitumen are applied, either emerged or unsurfaced.
