FAQs
Being one of their biggest expenditures people usually have a many questions prior to makingany decisions , below are a few of the more commonplace ones…
Unless you are a certified roofing professional, most roofing jobs should not be performed yourself. Also always remember that most manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof will not warranty those items unless a licensed professional performs the work. The other thing to remember is that working on a roof can be very hazardous, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health for you to save money?
It would be great if we could give you a straight forward answer to that question! However there actually is no one answer that fits all for each question like that. There are several unique products readily available and each has its own advantages and faults. To determine which is the ideal roof for you, you should have an expert come and take a look at your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they find, your roof design, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It definitely is dependent on the kind of roof you currently have and what inspections are needed. Also, keep in mind that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we just can’t work on certain days then this will certainly add time to the job. A smaller home might take about a week or so, whereas larger commercial jobs can be anything from several weeks to a few months. Just make sure your roofing company keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Because your roof is consistently subjected to the weather, this means your roof is will degrade with time. The speed at which it breaks down will depend on a variety of factors. These include; the grade of the initial components used and the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is preserved and the style of the roof. Most roofing contractors will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but that can never be promised due to the above issues. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You shouldn’t ever pressure wash your roof, as you run the risk of removing any covering materials that have been added to give shielding from the weather. Also, you should stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they could also diminish the life-span of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning specialist, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. This will eliminate the unsightly algae and yellowing without ruining the tile or shingles.

More About Matthews, NC
Matthews is a town in southeastern Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It is a suburb of Charlotte. The population was 27,198 according to the 2010 Census.
In the early 19th century, the early settlement that would become Matthews was unofficially named Stumptown for the copious amount of tree stumps left from making way for cotton farms. The community’s name later changed to Fullwood, named after appointed area postmaster John Miles Fullwood. The establishment of a sawmill and the cotton and timber industry helped Fullwood change into a town. Prior to the first train arriving on December 15, 1874, Fullwood acted as a stagecoach stop between Charlotte and Monroe. The town was incorporated into a municipal corporation in 1879 and was renamed to Matthews for Edward Watson Matthews, a prominent resident, and director of the Central Carolina Railroad, which would later become known as the Seaboard Air Line Railroad.[4][5]
The Seaboard Air Line Fell Into Seaboard On July 1, 1967. Seaboard Then Merged With Chessie System To Create CSX (Chessie Seaboard X)

The terrific environment comes with a cost, however. It can be rough on roofing systems. Our business prides itself on keeping your business roof and domestic roof in prime condition. If you need a brand-new roof, we will install it. If you require repairs, we will do a quality job. We continuously make every effort to improve our ability as property and industrial roofing professionals.

We provide trust, integrity, quality, and assurance. Lots of companies can provide you a roof, but very few can give you the safe sensation that we do. Working with a quality roofing company lowers your concern and permits you to focus on your work and your family.
Homeowner maintenance includes cleaning the leaves and particles from the roof’s valleys and gutters. Debris in the valleys can cause water to wick under the shingles and cause damage to the interior of the roofing system. Blocked gutter can trigger water to flow back under the shingles on the eaves and trigger damage, despite the roof material.
The best method to maintain your roofing is to remain off it. Also, seasonal changes in the weather condition are normally the most devastating forces. A leaking roof can harm ceilings, walls and home furnishings. To secure structures and their contents from water damage, roofing contractors repair and set up roofing systems made from tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made of asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other material.
There are 2 types of roofings: flat and pitched (sloped). Most industrial, commercial and apartment structures have flat or somewhat sloping roofings. A lot of houses have pitched roofing systems. Some roofing contractors work on both types; others specialize. Most flat roofings are covered with numerous layers of products. Roofing professionals first put a layer of insulation on the roofing deck.
Next, they install partially overlapping layers of roof felt, a fabric saturated in bitumen, over the surface area. Roofing professionals utilize a mop to spread out hot bitumen over the surface and under the next layer. This seals the seams and makes the surface watertight. Roofing professionals repeat these steps to develop the wanted variety of layers, called plies. To use shingles, roofers initially lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roof felt lengthwise over the entire roofing system. Then, beginning with the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roofing system. Workers step and cut the felt and shingles to fit converging roofing system surface areas and to fit around vent pipes and chimneys.
Finally, roofers cover exposed nailheads with roofing cement or caulking to avoid water leak. Roofing contractors who use tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a comparable procedure. Some roofers likewise water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floors. To prepare surface areas for waterproofing, they hammer and chisel away rough spots, or eliminate them with a rubbing brick, prior to applying a coat of liquid waterproofing compound.
When damp-proofing, they normally spray a bitumen-based finishing on interior or outside surfaces. Asphalt is the most commonly utilized roofing product. Asphalt products include shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roof, and customized bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are typically the most typical and affordable option for residential roof. They come in a range of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles consist of more than one layer of tabs to offer extra thickness. Interlocking shingles are used to supply greater wind resistance. And large specific shingles usually are available in rectangle-shaped and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing products are usually utilized in domestic applications, mostly for underlayments and flashings. They are available in four different kinds of material: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced items are used primarily as flashing to seal the roofing system at intersections and protrusions, and for offering extra deck defense at the roofing system’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is utilized as an underlayment between the roof deck and the roofing product. Specialty-eaves flashings are usually utilized in environments where ice dams and water backups are common.
BUR is used on flat and low-sloped roofings and includes numerous layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Components of a BUR system consist of the roofing deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and emerging product. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly consists of constant plies of saturated felts, coated felts, fabrics or mats in between which alternate layers of bitumen are used, either emerged or unsurfaced.
