FAQs
Being one of their biggest investments people typically have a ton of questions prior to coming to a conclusion , below are a few of the more commonplace ones…
Unless you are a trained contractor, the majority of roofing work really should not be performed yourself. Additionally remember that most manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those items unless a licensed roofing contractor carries out the job. The other thing to remember is that working on a roof is going to be very dangerous, so is it really worth endangering your health so you can save money?
It would be really good if we were able to give you a straight forward response to this question! However, there actually is no single answer that fits all for every question like that. There are a lot of different products readily available and each will have its own advantages and faults. To figure out which is the best roof for you, you really should have a contractor come and take a look at your roof and they can make suggestions based on what they see, your roof design, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It actually depends on the type of roof you currently have and exactly what evaluations are needed. Also, bear in mind that we will be working outside in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we can’t work on particular days then this will definitely add more time to the job. A small home may take about a week or so, while more substantial commercial projects can be anything from several weeks to a number of months. Just be sure your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Since your roof is constantly exposed to the weather, it means your roof is going to break down over time. The pace at which it deteriorates will depend upon a number of variables. Those include; the grade of the initial components that were used and the workmanship, the amount of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is maintained and the design of the roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but that can never be promised due to the above issues. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of eliminating any covering minerals that have been included to provide shielding from the weather. Also, you should steer clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they may also cut down the lifespan of your roof. When you speak with your roof cleaning professional, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will clear away the ugly algae and discoloration without damaging the tile or shingles.
