FAQs

Being one of their largest investments people always have a number of questions prior to makingany decisions , listed here are a few of the most common ones…

Unless you’re a certified contractor, most roofing jobs should not be undertaken yourself. Additionally bear in mind that a large number of manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those items unless a certified professional performs the job. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof is going to be very hazardous, so is it really worth risking your health in order to save money?

It would be great if we could give you a simple answer to this question! But there really is no one answer fits all for each question like that. There are plenty of different products available and each and every one will have its own advantages and faults. To figure out which is the ideal roof for your home, you should have an expert come and examine your roof and they can make suggestions based on what they see, your roof design, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.

It really depends upon the type of roof and what inspections are needed. Also, remember that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we just can’t work on a number of days then this will definitely add more time to the task. A smaller home may take around a week or so, whereas much larger commercial jobs might be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just be sure your roofing company keeps you updated and you really should be fine.

Due to the fact that your roof is always subjected to the weather, it means your roof is going to deteriorate with time. The rate at which it degrades will depend upon a range of factors. Those include; the grade of the original materials that were used and the workmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is taken care of and the design of the roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed as a result of the above factors. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to make sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should never pressure wash your roof, as you run the risk of getting rid of any covering minerals that have been included to give protection from the elements. Aside from that, you really should avoid chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they may also reduce the life-span of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning expert, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will remove the aesthetically displeasing algae and yellowing without ruining the tile or shingles.

Some roofing leaks are difficult to locate. Sometimes the water reveals up at a ceiling area remote from the leak. If your ceiling has a plastic vapor barrier between the drywall and the attic insulation, push the insulation aside and look for flow spots on the plastic. Frequently water runs to openings in the vapor barrier, such as at ceiling light.

Moisture that gets away into the cold attic from the rooms below frequently condenses on cold nails. Often you can find this if you go up into your attic on a cold night. The nails will look white since they’re frosted. When the attic warms up a bit during the day, the frost melts and leaks, then the nails frost up during the night again and so on.
